He may feel strong enough to propose — or to insist — that the peacemaking begin with the presidential ticket itself by naming Scranton to run with Goldwater. There would be strong conservative opposition to that. Chairman William E. Miller of the Republican National Committee is being touted as Goldwater’s personal choice for second place. Convention conservatives are enthusiastic about Miller. They would give Ike a real fight on that issue unless Goldwater forbade it.

this area what Greencastle has to offer.” It would seem that the Chamber of Commerce should attain that goal and show Putnam County Citizens - heck of a good time in doing so.

-Fair On Square (Continued from Page 1) travel from McKeehan Field near Blackstock Stadium through the streets of Greencastle. John Tzouanakis will be the honored Parade Marshal. Cash prizes will be presented to the groups with the best floats and awards will be given to the outstanding bands participating. Later in the afternoon a tractor driving contest will be held on the square. Also planned for the afternoon are several athletic contests for youngsters who will vie for prizes on the courthouse lawn. For the adults there will be a scavenger hunt centering on landmarks around the business section. The festivities will be acumulated Saturday night with a special Youth Night featuring a sock hop which will be emceed by a well known radio disc jockey. Apparently the Chamber of Commerce wisely decided that the older folks would be "to pooped to hop” by that time. Throughout the three day celebration the stores and special booths around the square will be decorated in keeping with the 1910-1920 period and the merchants will present historical displays. The Chamber of Commerce is working hard to make this year’s ’‘Fair On The Square” a big success. Their goal Is, according to general chairman Ray Brush, ‘‘To promote Greencastle as a commercially progressive city. We want to show the people of
