body at the front or back, or both. The firm of Orginala, which makes coats only, produced the “dinky, slinky skimp coat” made in many ways to give a slender look. Some came with set-in sleeves, others had mold-

ed shoulders, but all narrow of line. Most had small ring collars that cuddled the neck but not too closely. Typical of the Originala skimps-a frosted blue melton with double-breasted closing, narrow shoulders, and pockets just vertical slits so that the lean line was not broken. The slim coat was one of the major trends for fall and winter showing in the new clothes collections of the New York Couture Group of desingers and manufacturers. The couture group this week is staging its 43rd semi-annual “Press W'eek” of previews for visiting

reporters. Clothes will begin to show in stores in August. Several firms stressed double duty coats, with the fabrics treated so they can repel rain or snow. Norman NoreU’s “weather” coats were made of flat-surfaced woolens, so treated, and were shown over soft jersey dresses with jersey stockings to match. Many of the coats came with quilted linings. Jablow produced luxury raincoats of iguana lizard 'print, lined with black nutria fur. Anthony Blotta came up with the “tupip” coats, with collars worked to stand up straight.

almost nose high. The new coats have little belting. Some have half belts at the back of the same fabric. Showing everywhere is the narrow string of leather, like a thong, tied low on the hipbone. Coat dresses showed through the collections, many of them made in coating fabrics, as the reverse twisted wool which is almost like whipcord used by designer Gina at Gothe. Tons Of Mail Hidden In Garage WATER MILL, N.Y. UPI — Postal authorities looked for

more undelivered mail today at the home of a retired elderly postmaster who apparently squirrled away tons of letters in the latter days of his career because he had trouble getting around in his vintage automobiles. During most of his 33 years as a mailman, Lorin F. Shipper dutifully delivered all the mail to the people on his eastern Long Island rural route. But he slacked off before his 1956 retirement, apparently delivering what appeared to be must mail and stashing the rest in his garage.
