IN MEMORY Knight: In memory of Oscar i L. Knight who passed away May 25, 1963. * So often I get to thinking When I’m setting all alone. The days we' spent together Were happy and well worth while. Now God has called my loved one, And I'm walking life alone, The days are long and the nights are dark with loneliness And my pillow is damp with tears. We know that this world is not our home, We are just passing through; My loved one has passed through And crossed pver Jordan, And I will meet him over there, And we will be united again As we were forty-one years ago. Sadly missed by wife, Edith.

Those toil-worn hands, that silver hair. That precious smile, that happy face, No one on earth can take his place. He was always gentle, so kind and true, He seldom complained, was never blue. Home’s not the same since he's not there, Forever there’ll be that vacant chair. His place at home no one can fill, We loved him then and always will. Mom is loving, kind and true— We’ll stand by her, her whole life through. Thru storm and rain she's stood the test And she has ever done her best. She’s braved the trials of life alone Since Pop was taken from the home. And though the path of sorrow has trod, She still has kept her faith in God. We wonder why Pop had to go When we dearly loved him so. Some day, when in a better land, Perhaps ’tis then we’ll understand. Yes, up in heaven, Lord, let me see My precious Pop who cared for me. Sadly missed by Margaret and Ralph Bruner.

What does the doctor look for in a routine examination of the urine? Indicated Possibilities Sugar. The presence of high sugar content may indicate diabetes. But it may also signify an overabundance of sugar in the diet. Albumin. In good health, the kidneys do not allow albumin to pass into the urine. Albumin is a kind of body protein which, when found in the urine, may indicate infection or impairment of the function of the kidneys. But it is only when albumin is consistently found in the- kidneys that it has special significance in diagnosis. A single specimen that contains albumin, or even sugar, does not necessarily indicate disease. Kidneys’ AbUity Specific gravity. This test indicates the kidneys’ ability to conserve or eliminate body
fluids.
Acidity. The acid and alkaline content of the urine sometimes indicates infections or disease in far removed parts of the body.
Diets and medications can also affect the acid or alkaline content of the urine. Bile salts. In certain diseases of the liver and the gall bladder, bile pigments filter into the urine and give valuable diagnostic information. Jaundice of the body quickly reflects itself by a characteristic color of the urine. Protein Accumulation Microscopic study of the urine may reveal blood, bacteria and pus cells. Protein accumulations called “casts” are occasionally found in the urine, indicating certain disfunctions of the kidneys. These tests are but a fragment of the many that can be performed to extract from the urine the telltale evidences of disease. The presence of hormones, traces of poisons such as arsenic and lead, and even narcotics, can be detected through laboratory examination of the urine. Urinalysis is a vital part of the complete medical examina-
tion.
