Voltmer Speaks At Rotary Club Dr. Harry Voltmer, head of the Political Science Department at DePauw University, spoke on the “Current Political Scene” at the Rotary Club luncheon. On the national level, “It apears President Johnson will be nominated to .run for President of the United States’’ providing his health remains sound. As a running mate seeking the Vice President position, several persons could be considered. Dr. Voltmer pointed out that it is necessary to select a man for Vice President who could take over the executive position if Mr. Johnson were nominated and elected and should his health fail. It seems to Dr. Voltmer that the Republicans have a problem In selecting their nominees for President and Vice President with extremist pushing hard in the state primaries. However, it would seem that “the final nomination would center around Mr. Lodge and Mr. Nixon running for President and Vice President or in reverse order.” Mr. Scranton and Mr. Romney do not seem to be very great contenders for the nomination at this time according to Dr. Voltmer.
