WHY JUNE? CHICAGO UPI — Why June has become the traditional month of weddings probably relates to the transportation difficulties in early America — too much snow in winter to get to wedding celebrations, according to Compton’s Pictured Encyclopedia. Another influencing factor: June is named after the Roman goddess, luno The Greeks had a different name for the same goddess, calling her Hera. At any rate, this Juno—or Hera— was the goddess of womanhood, of marriage and of maternity.
