Missing Plane Search Started LOGANSPORT, UPI — A Civil Air Patrol search was launched today for an Illinois plane missing since Wednesday morning on a flight from Logansport to Elkhart. The plane was piloted by Wayne Hindman, 58, Herrin, 111., a home trailer sales execu-

tive.

Hindman landed at Logansport Municipal Airport at 10 a.m. EST Wednesday to refuel. He took off 15 minutes later and failed to reach Elkhart, his flight plan destination. Airport officials said they learned after he took off that there was a heavy fog north of Logansport and visibility was zero about the time of Hindman’s departure. The CAP search was directed

out of Warsaw. A brother of Hindeman came here to assist in the hunt. He said he feared his brother was dead or injured so badly he could not seek aid.

Three States Reach Tax Pact INDIANAPOLIS UPI —Indiana announced today a reciprocity agreement with Illinois and Kentucky which may bring many thousands of dollars of additional sales tax revenue to this state. The governors of the three states announced jointly a “mutually cooperative effort” to collect the sales taxes of the sister states. Stanley rseaman, deputy revenue commissioner in charge ot the sales tax, said the agreement will be of major benefit to Indiana because this state's sales tax is lower —2 per cent compared with 3 per cent for Kentucky and 4 per cent for Illinois. “Indiana is going to get more

money than it has been getting. We have an advantage.” Beaman said. The agreement means that when an Indiana resident Duys merchandise in an Illinois cr Kentucky store for shipment to a point in Indiana, the Hoosier tax will be added to the sale. Conversely, when a purchase is made in Indiana by a resident of either of the other two states, for delivery to either of the other states, the tax of the state in which the buyer lives will be collected by the Indiana merchant rather than the Hoosier tax.

Squalor Shocks 2 Congressmen WASHINGTON UPI — Two Republican congressmen said today they found shocking squalor on Alabama farm land owned by Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson. "If the President is sincere in his poverty program, he should have demonstrated his sincerity a long time ago by assisting these people who are livi.ig in such deoV.rab'e conditions on the Johnson land in Alabama,” Rep. Dave Martin, K-Neb., i told a news conference. “We saw people living in deplorable poverty with Uttle evidence of concern by their millionaire landlords,” Rep. M G. Snyder, n. ivy., said. "We saw nothing here that could not easily be corrected by the Johnsons themselves without a nickel of federal funds or a single federal program, if of course, they really cared."
