The group enjoyed lunch in Lafayette and arrived at the Home, toured the Cemetery, visited the library, Community Building and the new building, which replaces the old one that was destroyed by fire several months ago; then they reached the Widows Building for the party. A committee of three members Mrs. Nina Gaston, Mrs. Minnie Milhon and Mrs. Barbara Carpenter had planned a beautiful musical program for the afternoon, which was enjoyed by all. James Shaw, 17, Frankfort, pleaded guilty to escaping from the penal farm last May 8th when arraigned in Putnam Circuit Court Friday. Judge Francis N. Hamilton sentenced Shaw to serve 1-5 years in the state reformatory at Pendleton. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Modisitt of Russellville are the parents of a daughter, Lee Ann, born in the Clay County Hospital April 20. The mother Is the former Janice Patrick of Brazil. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Modesitt of Russellville and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Patrick of Brazil.

Mrs. Cecil Kays gave a report on the storage of medicines in the home. Mrs. Ross gave the Outlook lesson on Best Buys in meat, vegetables and fruits. Mrs. Dorothy Buechler from the Public Service in Greencastle gave a most informative lesson on freezing foods and vegetables. She emphasized the freezing of cooked and prepared foods in order that homemakers may save more time and energy in food preparation. Mrs. Ernest Roth, vice-president, took charge of the program planning for the year. The hostesses served very delicious refreshments and all the members enjoyed the social hour.
