IMMORTAL
... and may wc sing Hallelujah! For Christ the Lord is risen. The lilies are in bloom and men and angels are in jubilation. Because He lives, we know we too shall live.
The Greeks were wrong.
Man is not mortal, but rather immortal. - For God hath set eternity in the heart of man. This Easter, we share the immortality of Jesus Christ. His journey to Golgotha transfigured the cross forever, turning that \ symbol of suffering into a
symbol of triumphant life.
Then let us live like women and men who
expect to go on and on forever
... world without end. This is indeed our true Christian hope. This is what
Easter means to us today.

Saturday, March 28, one senior and two junior teams of GAA girls are planning to attend a bowling night at Varsity Lanes in Greencastle. The girls are: Senior Team; Jackie Cassady, Joan Price, Brenda Dunagan, Kay Price, and Marilyn Fenwick. Junior Team I; Evajean Davis, Shirley Curtis, Karon Alexander, Marsha Sutherlin, Sharon Cromwell. Junior Team 2; Jackie Linley, Betty Meagher, Linda Linley, Becky Anderson and Pam Price. This is sponsored by the J.B.C. April 3rd marks the coming of the District Bowling Tourney for GAA girls. They are anxious to start their track activities as soon as the weather breaks. The Seniors have only a few weeks of school left then they must make pretty big decisions. Big to them, anyway. Now they are planning ahead for the coming events. Everyone is thrilled! On March 25 at the American Legion Home, the Varsity banquet was held. John Nees and Hugh Patton were awarded the “most valuable players’’ award. Then, the Lions Club awarded the B Team with a trophy. The varsity and B team both were awarded trophies for the Conference Championship. Mr. Miller, the varsity coach, and Mr. Tucker, the B Team coach are very proud of the boys, as we are sure the boys join the rest of the student body in being proud of them. The Sophomores have announced the date of their class party as May 8. They plan to have a picnic at Lieber State Park. They are now making the necessary arrangements for their party. The Thespians are busy practicing every evening after school and most mornings before school starts, on their play “Old Doc”. There will be lots of new additions done to the stage this year. Many apprentice Thespians are being used in the play, in order for them to gain more points as Thespians. The play “Old Doc” revolves around a doctor who has a son that is about ready to graduate from Medical School but doesn’t want to become a doctor like his father. The humor of the play is in the different types of characters and the parts they play. The play itself will be given April 17, at 8:00 p.m. Plan to attend.

ping the nine. South won with the king of hearts and returned the queen of clubs for a finesse. East won with the king of clubs and returned the three of hearts to South’s ace. West carefully dropped the ten of hearts to keep the suit from blocking. South could not afford to develop a spade trick since then the opponents would get a spade, a club, and three hearts. He had to rely on guessing which opponent had the queen of diamonds to get his ninth trick. Runs Clubs Hoping to get some information form the discards, South began to run his long club suit, ed the ten of spades and West discarded the three of diamonds. When South ran the rest of the clubs, East discarded two more spades and West threw the deuce and five spades. At this point South ran the rest of up his mind about the diamonds. South didn’t have a clear idea of what the opponents held, but he did remember that West had discarded a diamond. Surely West couldn't have any interest in diamonds if he had thrown one away. So declarer decided to play East for the queen of diamonds. South cashed dummy's ace of diamonds and returned a diamond to try a finesse with the jack. This lost to the queen, and the defenders took the rest
of the tricks, collecting a pen* ally of 200 points. We all know that West went out of his way to throw a diamond when he had two or thw« perfectly safe spade discard*. We would know that West wa* trying to fool us with that early diamond discard, so we would finesse the correct way and laugh in West’s face. Still, you’d be surprised beer often a deceptive discard wll! work. Not all declarers ara aa clever as we are! Daily Question Partner opens with 2 NT,, and the next player passes.
