Storm Injures 8 At Loqansnort LOGANSPORT UPI —Eight persons were injured in the Logansport area by a vicious storm which hit this area late Wednesday. Mrs. Lynn Dillman, 45. Logansport, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in fair condition from shock caused by a lightning bolt which struck her home as she talked on the telephone. Mrs. Dillman was chatting with her son, Ned, who phoned from Lafayette after hearing of the storm to see if she was all right. Melvin Stinson, 43. Logansport. and James Spitznogle, 3, were hurt when lightning struck a cement block tool shed on Stinson's farm. Both were hit by flying blocks. Stinson was in
fair condition, the boy in satisfactory condition. Michael Waddups, 10, R. R. 2, Logansport, was treated for face cuts suffered when the wind blew out a window in his home. Wind-blown debris smashed through a window of an auto, injuring William Lind. R. R. 2, his daughter, his foster daughter and his step-son. The wind blew over a 60-foot mobile home on Indiana 25, just after driver Robert Fredericks, Toledo, Ohio, pulled off the road to w'ait out the storm. A barn on the Otto Farrer farm near Logansport Airport was demolished, and a house and barn on the Truman Slusser farm were damaged. Union Requests Profit-Shcring ATLANTIC CITY. N. J. UPI — Leaders of the United Auto Workers requested union backing today to seek profit-sharing agreements wherever “feasible” through collective bargaining. A resolution citing the “great value” of carefully drawn profit-sharing plans was placed before the closing session of the UAW convention for approval. George Meany, aFL-CIO president, was scheduled to nddress the 2,500 delegates just before the week-old meeting adjourns. Aides of union President Walter P. Reuther said there was slight prospects of serious bargaining over profit-sharing at coming negotiations with Gen-
eral Motors, Ford and Chrysler Corp. They said the policy stater~' ' designed to give union leaders plenty of room to maneuver if any of the Big Three automakers or farm equipments companies want to move in that direction.
SENTENCE UPHELD INDIANAPOLIS UPI— The life sentence of a Terre Haute man for the slaying of a girl he met in a night spot has been upheld by the Indiana Supreme Court. Charles Ross Hulburd, Jr., had claimed that the 1961 shooting of Nellie Corby, also of Terre Haute, was an accident which occurred when he tried to help ha' - as she slipped on an icy street and she took offense and struck him.
