ALASKA STRATEGIC ANCHORAGE, Alaska (UPI) — Alaska may be the nation’s most important state in terms of supplying raw materials for national defense purposes. Alaska has 31 of the 33 minerals regarded as strategic for defense.

Need A Lawyer DALLAS UPI — The family

of convicted killer Jack Ruby, two high-powered lawyers already behind them, today for a new one who might save their brother from the electric chair.

Percy Foreman of Houston,

the best-known criminal lawyer in Texas, resigned from the case Monday in a dispute with

the family. He was hired last week when Ruby personally fired Melvin Belli of San Francisco because of Belli’s tirade against Dallas and the court that convicted

him.

“You can call it a clash of personalities; a difference of opinion,” Foreman said. “My idea is that when a lawyer accepts responsibility for a man’s

life, he ought not to have to share that responsibility with a civil lawyer or with a number of unlicensed relatives,” he added.

Will File Suit INDIANAPOLIS UPI — Attorney Don Fusig today planned to file a suit seeking to force Secretary of State Charles O. Hendricks to certify State Sen.

Kenneth Reagin, D-Cory, and his potential Republican opponent as candidates for the May 5 primaries in the new Clay-Owen-Sullivan County senatorial district. Fusig said Monday he planned to file the new suit today in Marior County Superior Court. He made the announcement after the Indiana Supreme Court said it would issue a writ

to prohibit Clay Circuit Judge Robert Stewart from acting in an earlier suit filed by Reagin.

Battle Takes Shape INDIANAPOLIS UPI — The Indiana presidential preference primary battle began to take shape today with two candidates already in the field, another expected today and one

or two more expected Wednesday or Thursday. So far the official candidates, one for each party, are Democratic Governor Welsh and Sen. Barry Goldwater, R-Ariz. Goldwater’s first opponent, Negro attorney Frank Beckwith, was scheduled to file today. Former Minnesota Gov Harold Stassen is expected to file Wednesday in the GOP primary.

The big question mark was the Democratic candidacy of Alabama Gov. George Wallace. Welsh filed as a “favorite son” Monday in a move to keep the state's. o£ first ballot votes at the Democratic national conven- • * v»*\ tion from going to. the segregationist Wallgcg, default, although state party leaders declined to adpiit it iip so many words.
