The City Council will meet in regular session this evening at 7:30 o’clock. V. F. W. Ladies Auxiliary will meet Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. at the Post Home. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bush, of Spencer, became the parents of a son Sunday at the Putnam County Hospital. Bill Dobbs, manager of Voncastle Theater was host Saturday to over 400 Girl Scouts. The girls thoroughly enjoyed aix cartoons and "The Dog of Flanders." Bro. G. B. Shelburne III will be at the Church of Christ at Hawr Creek, 1 mile north of Roachdale, March 26, 8 p.m. to tell of his experiences at Nyasaland, Africa. He Is on leave after two and one half years and will be returning in April. Reservations for the Putnam County Historical Society dinner meeting Wednesday at Torr’s at 6:30 must be called to Florence Boatright by noon Tuesday. Mrs. Alfred Jeffers and Mrs. Bruce Albright will have the program. Florence Peterson, 208 West Walnut, Greencastle, is among outstanding coeds pledged by Alpha Lambda Delta honorary at Indiana University. Alpha Lambda Delta, which encourages academic achievement among freshman women, is open to those carrying at least 15 hours per semester, and maintaining at least a 3.5 out of a possible 4.0 grade average.

Scholarship funds at DePauw were enriched by $200 this w’eek when Alpha Delta Sigma members Larry Hastie, left, and Tom Sandbloom, presented a check to Norman Knights, director of public relations and development. The scholarship, created from revenue from ADS’s annual jazz concert, will be awarded each year to a junior man or woman with preference wiien possible to a student interested in a career in advertising. Alpha Delta Sigma is an undergraduate honorary for men interested in the advertising professions.
State's Traffic Toll Hits 211 Indiana’s weekend traffic death toll was held to three, but the year’s total climbed to at least 211 compared with 207 a year ago. Allen Eugene Soliday, 21, Monticello, was killed Sunday when his car w’ent out of control at high speed and crashed into a ditch on a road near Monticello. Laura Mills, 59, Huntington, was killed Sunday, in a two-car collision at the intersection of two county roads six miles north of Huntington. David Campbell, 33, Elkhart, was killed Saturday night w’hen his car went out of control on U.S. 20 near Elkhart and hit a tree. An autopsy was scheduled to determine whether Horace Virgil, 46. Millersburg, died Saturday night of traffic injuries or from a heart attack. Virgil died shortly after his car crashed Into the rear of another driven by Lawrence Krohm, 24, Elkhart, at an intersection near Elkhart.

West Floyd Home Demonstration Club met at the home of Mrs. Edith McKamey March 11th with 10 members and one guest, Mrs. C. N Phillips. Lesson on Blending of Old and New Furniture by Mrs. Maurice Bryan and Mrs. Harold Sibbitt. Roll call: My definition of a successful woman. Meeting was opened by the vice president, Mrs. Ezra Arnold. The song of the month was sang. Reading of the minutes of the last meeting were read. The treasurer report was read and approved. Mrs. Arthur Eggers had the entertainment. The door prize won by Mrs. Maurice Bryan. Then Mrs. Eggers gave a contest won by Mrs. Maurice Bryan. Meeting was closed with the collection. The next meeting will be with Mrs. Arthur Eggers April 8.
Jack Ruby 53 DALLAS UPI — Convicted murderer Jack Ruby turned 53 years old today and his defense attorneys, now headed by Percy Foreman instead of Melvin Belli, wished him many more birthdays. Foreman and two other lawyers hired earlier by Ruby worked on a motion for a new trial over the weekend, visiting the Dallas County jail for nearly four hours of Sunday conferences with Ruby.
No Vote Seen WASHINGTON UPI — The Senate moved into the third week of talk on civil rights today, faced with longer daily sessions but with no immediate prospect of a first round vote. A survey by a private group showed that 18 uncommitted senators, 10 Republicans and 8 Democrats, hold the key to halting the prolonged civil rights debate.
Tiger Trackman Sets Jump Mark The second oldest mark in DePauw’s track record book was eclipsed Saturday by Dave Spidel, a junior high jumper from Greenville, Ohio. Spidel's leap of 6 feet 4 inches broke the existing 29-year-old record of 6 feet 3% inches set by Leland Hughbanks. in 1935. Spidel and 24 other DePauw trackmen were competing in an indoors meet Saturday at Indiana University. Pidel won the event but no championship was
awarded.
DePauw’s first outdoors test will come April 11 in the Wabash Relays. The Tiger tennis team inaugurates spring activity this week with matches in Memphis, Tennessee, against the Memphis Tennis Club, Memphis State University and Southwestern Uni-

Riiinhridge Club Meeting With Mrs. Ernest Roth The Community Service Club of Bainbridge met with Mrs. Ernest Roth on March 11th. Mrs. Gilbert O Hair was the assistant hostess. The pledge to the American Flag was led by Mrs. Robert Houser and the Home Demonstration Creed was led by Mrs. Cecil Kays. Mrs. Norman Evens, the song leader, gave the history of "Flow Gently Sweet Afton” and led the group in singing. Recognition was given to members with birthdays and anniversaries, Mrs. Cecil Kays, neaun and safety leader, gave a detailed report on the use and storage of pesticides. Mrs. Robert Houser gave the garden hint on how to care for and prune grape vines. Mrs. Norman Evens, chairman of the ways and meana committee gave a report. The members voted to donate money, instead of having a money making project, to meet the financial needs of the club. A demonstration by Mrs. Eugene McFarland on covering shoes with fabric was most interesting. The method is simple and one could reduce the cost of shoes in a clothing budget by covering some of their old shoes. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess. The April meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Walter Steele.
HOLY WEEK SERVICES Holy Week Services for the Bainbridge Methodist Church will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday beginning at 7:30 p.m. Union Good Friday Services will be at the Christian Church in half hour segments, from 12 noon until 2:30 p.m. Reverand Beeman will have the 1:30 services. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings.
