Awarded Coveted Grad Fellowship One of the nation’s most coveted fellowships for graduate research has been awarded to DePauw University senior, Gretchen Knecht, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Miss Knecht has been awarded an all-expense fellowship for graduate study in cell physiology at the Rockefeller Institute in New York City. She is the first DePauw student ever to win the award.
The grant win cover living expenses, tuition and expenses for possible foreign study while she earns her Ph.D. in the life sciences at the New York center. Among Miss Knecht's mentors will be at least nine Nobel Prize winning scientists who currently are teaching and doing research at the Institute, internationally famed for its work in medical and biological research. In addition to her present course load at DePauw, she is doing non-credit research in tissue culture and histochemistry. After graduation from the Ins-
titute, she plans to do research and limited teachin . Nominated for he fellowship by DePauw s zoology department head, Dr. Albert Reynolds, Gretchen has earned academic distinction in the Dean's List at DePauw and belongs to the undergraduate zoology club Beta Beta Beta, the •cieuee honorary Sigma Xi, and Delta Zeta social sorority. Her father is attorney Lawrence G. Knecht, 1099 Millstone Rd., Cleveland Heights. Gretohen is a 1960 graduate of Cleveland Heights High School.
