On Sunday, February 23, the Alpha Phis took part in •Heart Sunday.” The girls collected over $50 according to Miss Susan Nahigian, who administered the drive. Cardiac aid was adopted as the National Philanthropy of Alpha Phi in 1946, and since that time members have contributed over $600,000 to this cause and donated hundreds of hours of volunteer work to local Heart Associations and other community projects.

The hunt will be for members only. A son was born Thursday morning at the Putnam County Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mendenhall of Roachdale Route 1. The Thursday Club will meet Thursday, March 12th, with Mrs. Mamie Backuis in Cloverdale. Members please note change of meeting place and date. James Burk has filed with the county clerk as a candidate for precinct committeeman from South Clinton, subject to the Democratic May primary. Donald Keith Zimmerman, 16, Greencastle R. R. 1, was arrested by city police at 9:15 Wednesday night on Ind. 240. The youth was charged with violation of the muffler law. Mrs. Forest Harris reported the strong wind Wednesday evening took the front wall and roof completely off their chicken house, which housed 175 laying hens. The roof was blown on to the farm northwest of the Harris farm. The Alpha Phi House is having a faculty buffet on Sunday, March 8, 1964. from 5-7 p. m. Over 200 faculty members and administrative officials have been invited. Miss Hedy Bryant, the newly-elected president, is in charge of the buffet. George Lee Nichols. 36, Brazil, was lodged in the Putnam County jail at 10:15 Wednesday night by State Trooper Ted Settle. Nichols was charged with public intoxication, reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxi-

cants.

A dance at the Girls’ Gym immediately following the afternoon games of the regional tourney Saturday is being sponsored by the local Jaycees. Food will also be furnished for the high school students while they enjoy themselves before the final game Saturday night.

Sorority Holds February Meeting

Epsilon Psi Sorority met at McMillan Floor Coverings. Tuesday evening, February 28, for a

social meeting.

The meeting was held at McMillan Floor Coverings for an educational program presented by

Mr. McMillan. A film from the American Carpet Institute, “How to Choose Your Carpet and Rugs,” was shown. The film gave basic aids in the selection of carpet and rugs. The film covered color, texture, fiber, evaluation and how carpet is made. Following the educational program a

surprise baby shower was held for Mrs. Mary Ann Trail and her new daughter, Marsha Susan. The next meeting will be held at the Indiana Gas Company, March 10, at 7:00 p.m. A cooking school will be held.
