Meeting Held By Roachdale Lions The regular meeting of the Roachdale Lions Club was held Tuesday evening with Richard Higgle presiding. Lion Howard Wilson had as his guest S.V. Ablam and Lion Warren Buser's guest was Homer Cochran, a Roachdale clergyman. Sam Hostetler and Leroy Love were in charge of the entertainment, assisted by John T. Wilson, conductor of the Roachdale School Band. Mr. Wilson stated that all those from the school who weie participating had been winners in Music Contests. Alan Hughes gave a bass clarinet solo. Accompanist was Glenda Purcell. Sharyn Parks, Carla Faller and Lonetta Howard- rendered a saxophone trio, accompanied on the piano by Mildred Fitzsimmons. Glenda Purcell did render a voice solo, accompanied on the piano by Mildred Fitzsimmons. Jimmy Risk gave a baritone solo, accompanied by Bernice Wilson on the piano. A vocal trio was given by Glenda Purcell, Lynn Hostetter and Barbara Wilson, accompanied on the piano by Bernice Wilson. All present enjoyed the vocal and instrumental renditions, which were most outstanding. The Blue and Gold Banquet for the Cub Scouts will be held at 6:10 p.m. March 5, 1964 at the Roachdale Masonic Hall. The Basketball Banquet will be held at the Lions Club March 10, 1964 at 7:00 p.m. A fine supper was served prior to the meeting.

valves, the aortic and the mitral, were found to be damaged and were replaced with artificial ones. A third valve, the tricuspid, was found to be deteriorating and doctors sewed the edge of it to aid its proper functioning. During the operation an artificial heart pumped blood through the patient’s body.

Heart Surgery Proves Success CHICAGO UPI — A 24-year-old father, only weeks from death, underwent successful open heart surgery affeerthg three of the four valves in his heart last month. Mount Sinai Hospital disclosed today. In releasing details of the operation, hospital spokesmen said Dennis Mikojaczak of Calumet City, 111., was so far along the road to recovery that he is “thinking about going back to work soon.” Mikolajczak, a department store manager and father of two young children, entered Mount Sinai Hospital the day after
