Each member answered roll call by telling what her family enjoys doing together. Mrs. Cecil Kays, the health and safety leader, gave a detailed report on how to meet the emergency of an atomic attack. Mrs. Katherine Benner, Home Demonstration Agent, brought the group up to date on the topic of Foreign Trade. She also showed slides of her trip to England and a few other countries. Mrs. Ernest Roth gave a report of the County Council meeting o f Home Demonstration

Clubs.

A handkerchief exchange was enjoyed by all who were present. The hostess served delicious refreshments in keeping with Valentine’s Day. The March meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Ernest Roth with Mrs. Gilbert O'Hair assist-

Mrs. Gene DeWeese Hostess to Rain or Shine Club The Rain or Shine Home Demonstration Club held their February meeting at the home of Mrs. Gone DeWeese. Our president Carolyn Flint opened the meeting with all members repeating the pledge to the flag and club creed in unison. Song of the month was read and sung Roll call was answered by 12 members each giving things they do together as a family. The lesson, “Planning Your Kitchen.” was given by Mrs. Dottie Buechler. She pointed out you should plan first on paper before starting to remodel or build. Consider what you have and what you need individually. Take advantage of all storage space such as backs of cabinet doors for spice racks, spoons, knives and paper bags, etc. There are three major work areas; (1> Prepare, (2) Cook and serve, (3) Clean up. These should not cover more than 22 feet in space. Also plan for good general lighting and under counter lighting. She also said an average homemaker prepares 1.000 meals a year, plan this room to be as convenient as possible. She showed slides on different kitchen arrangements. During business meeting the secretary and treasurer reports were read and approved. Ruth Albright gave a safety report. Mary Jane Humphrey gave an outlook report. The garden report was given by Marlene Bitzer. She also reported on the the council meeting. The meeting was closed by all members repeating club prayer in unison. Guests present were Mrs. Terry Martin and Mrs. Alma Bitzer.

Mrs. Mabel Mitchell Entertained Saturday Mrs. Mabel Mitchell entertained at her home in Putnamville Saturday evening in htmor of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dyar of West Yellowstone, Montana. Those present were Mrs. Stella Chrisenberry and Mrs. Ruth Fry of Greencastle; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Blue of Roachdale, Mrs. Beulah McCammack of Danville, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Boesen, Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Mathews, Mrs. Madge Bridges of Putnamville. All left at a late hour after having spent a very enjoyable evening watching movies of the 1964 New Year’s Rose Bowl parade and Yellowstone Park and other interesting places of

the west.

The hostess served sandwiches, salads, pie and coffee.

Mrs. Annis Grider was hostess to the Country Club Wednesday afternoon. There were nineteen members and one guest, Mrs. Roscoe Oliver Sr. present. Richard E. Huffman, of Washington Township, is a candidate for County Commissioner from the Third District instead of precinct committeeman as announced yesterday. Mrs Nellie Martin, State Director of National Campers and Hikers Association is in Pokagon State Park this week to serve as a Family Consultant on a panel of Advisors for the Great Lakes Parks Training Institute. This institute is for training park supervisors from all parts of the United States and Canada. Mrs. Emily Cox of Greencastle, entertained the District 9 OES officers at a luncheon Tuesday. Plans were laid for the spring meeting of District 9 Order of the Eastern Star. It will be held April 4, 1964 at the Rosedale Chapter. The president, Ida Adkisson,, urges the new Worthy Patrons of all chapters as a committee to be present and bring a good delegation from their chapter with them. Notices will be sent to all chapters later. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gericke, who reside on Ladoga, R. 2, returned to their country home on Wednesday after spending the past two months with their daughter and family, Lt. and Mrs. William H. Zachary in Oxnard, California. Mr. Zachary is stationed at Pt. Mugu at the Missile Center. While there they visited relatives in Los Angeles, Long Beach and China Lake, and also did sight-seeing at Disney Land, Knott's Berry Farm and Farmers Market and other places of interest in Los Angeles. On their return trip home they visited with J. Frank Ford in Amarillo, Tex, cousin of Mrs. Gericke. Mr. Ford, son of the late Jesse and Lura Ford visited here in 1942.

FRANKFORT. UPI — Pupils in the Scircleville Elementary School near Frankfort were given a two-day vacation beginning today because of an outbreak of infectious hepatitis

among the students.

Principal Bill Lambert said the building would be cleaned and fumigated before the 135 pupils return to classes next Monday.

SITT IS FILED INDIANAPOLIS UPI — The Marion County Thoroughfare Authority sought today to nullify a court order which stopped collection of a $10 special tax on autos in the Indianapolis area. The authority filed suit in Judge John L. Niblack’s Marion Circuit Court seeking to invalidate the ruling of Marion Supreme Court Judge Glen W. Funk last Friday that the “wheel tax” law was illegal with regard to passenger cars. Niblack set a hearing for March 2.

Miss Frances Geraldine Walden and Johnny Ray Harding were united in marriage recently in a double ring ceremony in the E.U.B. Church north of Harmony by the Rev. Russell.
