CAROL CHANNING the great big beautiful pink-and-gold girl who plays Dolly in the great big beautiful show called Hello, Dollv!” has become the toast of New York for at least the second time in her extremely eventful life. (Not so long ago, Anita Loos was looking for a star for “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes." She took one look at Carol and said prophetically, “There is our Lorelei Lee!") Today Carol Channing’s already-legendary Gay '90's Dolly Levi forecasts the whole feeling of fashion for this spring

Merle Sinclair Hostess To Dine and Chat C'luh The Dine and Chat Club met at the home of Mrs. Merle Sinclair on the afternoon of Feb. 12th. After repeating the “Lord's Prayer" in unison, all ten members responded to roll call by reading verses from old school day Valentines. Mrs. Sinclair showed some of the home made Valentines she had received when a child. The secretary's report was read and money collected for the hostess gifts for March. The hostess displayed the pillow she had bought with her money. Each member made a Valentine for her husband from a various assortment of materials. Florida Deluged By Rain Storm A storm over Florida dumped more than an inch of rain across the Deep South today and started what was expected to be a dangerous run up the East Coast. The Weather Bureau said damaging surface winds and hail were expected as late as noon (EST) in northern Florida, southeast Alabama and extreme
southern Georgia.
Hazardous driving warnings posted for the mountains of southwest Virginia northward through western Maryland and most of West Virginia. An “appreciable amount” of snow was forecast for those areas by nightfall. The storm, which the Weather Bureau said was deepening rapidly, was expected to reach the Chesapeake Bay area by sundown with snow and rain spreading 400 miles further north. Rains were expected
to be “heavy.”

Grills To Seek Special Session INDIANAPOLIS, UPI —Former State Sen. Nelson C. Grills, D-Indianapolis, plans to file a suit, probably Wednesday, which he believes will force Governor
Welsh to call a special session of the Indiana Legislature to revise state senate and congressional districts. Welsh said he does not believe it is feasible to call a special session to revise the 11 congressional districts so they would meet the equal population requirements set in Monday’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling in a Georgia case. Welsh said the next regular session begins next January.

Town & Country Club Meeting The Town and Country Home Demonstration Club met Thursday at the Barker Hotel. As many of us are planning to entertain our friends or preparing a party for our children, our lesson was on “Easy Entertaining ” Sharon Lewis and Ruth Crosby gave us four simple steps to follow in our planning. They also showed us how we can quickly change one basic center piece from a childrens party to a teenage party. They told us how we can cut-up a cake and decorate it to fit the occasion. Marjorie Hopkins sets up a contest using two teams that will do special projects at each meeting. Our assignment next month will be to make a kitchen utensile hat. Our meeting was then followed by the serving of very delicious dessert.
Ex-Senate Aide Faces Ultimatum WASHINGTON UPI — Former Senate aide Robert G. (Bobby) Baker today faced an ultimatum from Senate investigators to produce records of his business dealings or personally explain his refusal. The Senate Rules Committee announced Monday it had issued a subpoena for Baker's records and ordered him to supply the documents Wednesday morning. Sen. Howard W. Cannon, DNev., said that if Baker refused to surrender the records, he would have to appear when the committee meets behind closed doors and explain his reasons. Cannon said that if Baker produced his records, his personal appearance would be delayed until the investigators could study the documents. Baker's decision will be the first tip-off on whether the former secretary of the Senate Democrats plan to cooperate with the committee in its inves-
tigation.
