Fillmore Wins At Russellville
State High, the team that defeated Garfield, bowed to the supenority of Coach Dave McCracken’s Tiger Cubs last night, 78 to 61. The tip-off led to a fast five point lead over State. The Labmen rallied in mid-quarter and came within two point of the Greencastle scoring. At the first stop Greencastle held a slim two-point margin, 17-15. With 6:52 left in the first half and the score tied at 19, the first technical foul was called against Coach McCracken. The bonus shot was high and the score remained unchanged. The -second technical was called against Elliot Williams in response to Williams’ disgust at fouling one of the Labmen with 5:23 left in the half and State leading 20-23. The shots were good and it was State by five. Immediately, another technical was called, the reason not being clear to this reporter. The shot was off and the score remained the same. The remainder of the first half left the Cubs
trailing 35-32.
The second half brought the Tigers out in full strength as Coach McCracken’s Quints poured on the steam with a full court press. State High was caught unawares and the Cubs surged ahead with a six-point lead, State never fully recovered. The last quarter made the game decisive.

DePauw Whips Wheaton Squad Clipping along what seemed like a comfortable 67-51 edge, DePauw suddenly found itself confronted with a Wheaton press last night that produced an 84-all score before the Tigers eould regain their poise to register a 96-90 victory. The turbulent battle boosted DePauw’s record to 4-5 and Wheaton moved back to 7-5, its five-game winning streak broken in the process. Tonight DePauw- re-enters conference action in a 9 p.m. game at St. Joseph’s. Extraordinarily hot from the field, last night’s winners canned a sizzling 21 of 38 shots in the first half while building a 50-38 lead. DePauw ended with 39 to 63 for a phenomenal .619 average. Wheaton shot .420 on 34 of 81. Foul trouble beset DePauw amid its basket prosperity. By the time Wheaton started putting pressure on late in the game McCall was using substitutes
Mike Fehling, Skip Collins and Stan Bahler. Bruce Osborne, who finished with 12 points. Bob Hutton, who lost his starting center post to Dick Putt, plus sophomore Morgan Everson with his 18 point performance, all went out on fouls. Wheaton lost two the same way in the game which had 50 personal fouls and 63 free throws. Jim Callane hit 29 points for DePauw, but it was Fehling who tied the score at 86-86 after Wheaton managed to get the lead with 5:15 to go. Then Collins hit a pair of free throws and Putt hit a layup to put DePauw ahead. 90-86. with 3:45 left. Wheaton got back to a 91-90 deficit and had a chance to tie and go ahead. Fortunately for DePauw, Steve Miller missed the first of a bonus foul. Collins grabbed the missed free shot and was fouled. He hit two tosses with 21 seconds left and Callane clinched it with a threepoint play with eight seconds to go.

SI PER SALES CHICAGO UPI — Super markets now account for 74 per cent of U.S. food sales, compared to 40 percent of all food sales in 1950, reports Super Market Institute.
THE SON ftnd heir of the Earl of Sandwich, Viscount Hinchingbrooke, age 20, has gladly accepted the post of official taster and adviser for the International Sandwich Gardens at the upcoming New York World’s Fair. Naturally, for it’s the kind of a job a young fellow can get his teeth into. ! ! ! Hinchingbrooke’s ancestor, the fourth Earl of Sandwich, invented the sandwich which, in our book, makes the old earl one of mankind's greatest benefactor*. I ! t The prize bread-and •meal Combinations of various foreign countries will vie with each other in the Sandwich Gardens. This will make it a sort of gastronomic World Series. f ! ! In addition to “tastet* we note Hinchingbrooke is also listed as “adviser.** 'Wonder if
this means hell he on hand to suggest to the sandwich consumer whether to douse the meatments with mustard or catsup or both. ! ! ! We’ve no idea what typ sandwich will carry Uncle 11 Sam's colors in the interna* tional eating competition—the succulent hotdog or the equally munchuble hamburger, I I ! Personally, we think either the hotdog or the hamburgei could easily win the sandwich blue ribbonj with or without piccalilli. I f I It’s our guess that, come what may, the International Sandwich Gardens will be by far one of the most popular spots in the entire World’s Fair —especially among folk, like us, who have already begun to sharpen the old appetite.

Electric Dishwasher Makes Holiday Happy The old complaint about holiday meals—it takes half the day to prepare them, and the other half to wash the dishes-is never heard In a household that has an automatic electric dishwasher. If the homemaker plans well, prepares food in advance and stores it in a roomy electric re-frigerator-freezer, the holiday can be a day of more relaxing for everyone. Getting dinner on the table will be a matter of heat-and-serve, and dishwashing will be done automatically in tho oifiCLrio dishwasher.
