Women who have suffered the embarrassment of a damaged stocking while at work will worry no more, thanks to a new automatic vending machine that dispenses ladies’ nylon hosiery in the same way as cigarettes and candy are currently vended.

There were 35.6 million U.S. gas utility customers in 1963, compared with 26.7 million in 1953. The greatest percentage gain was scored in the industrial area, where consumers jumped 52 per cent.

Six Indiana 4-H Club members received $500 college scholarships at the National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago as national winners in their club specialties. Five other Indiana 4-H Club members also were named national winners. All 11 were introduced at the annual 4 H awards banquet on Dec. 5, part of a group of some 200 scholarship and fellowship winners. The dinner wus attended by more than 2.000 delegates, 4-H Club leaders and guests. Top Farmer Merlyn Albright, 20. of Argos. Was awarded his scholarship by the International Harvester

Company, one of the six offered in the 4-H agricultural program. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Glendyn AlbrighL Miss Sharon Jackson, 20. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Jackson, Greensburg, won in the foods-nutrition program. Her scholarship came from the General Foods Corporation. Electrical Expert Allan Abbott of Indianapolis, was one of six scholarship winners in the electric program sponsored by the Westinghouse Educational Foundation. One of the national winners in the beef program was Richard Harper, 16, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harper, of Chandler. E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, Inc., presented his scholarship.
