NOTE ON TREE CHICAGO UPI — “Dear Santa,” the note began. “I am a little boy 12 years. T would like a little present as we are very poor and our Santa hasn't enough money for presents this year.” It was signed, “Norman McKeil, Doaktown, New Brunswick, Canada.” The note was written on a weather — beaten scrap of notebook paper and tied with black thread to a Christmas tree delivered in Chicago. UPI — Mrs. William Koscuiszka sat in her modest home and spoke quietly about the ordeal ahead. “I gave him life once, and with God’s help I can do it again,” she said Wednesday. On Dec. 29, she and her son, William, 23, will undergo joint surgery in Boston for a kidney transplant in what may be the first mothcr-to-son operation of its kind.

DuPONT DIES WILMINGTON, Del. UPI — Irenee du Pont, 86, last survivor of the three brothers who led the Dupont Co. to its preeminent position in the chemical industry, died at his home today. Du Pont had been ill for some time at his home at Granogue just outside Wilmington. During du Font’s lifetime E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. became the world's largest diversified chemical firm.
