sorts were brought in by those present. Betty Williamss returned the blessing. The group, more than one hundred really enjoyed the delicious meal, thanking Maryanne Rowings for roasting the hams, Wanda Patton and Geneve Williams for doing the the culinary work on the turkeys and “fixings.” The business meeting followed with the election of officers the main topic. Cassel Skinner is the new president; Fayma Skinner, secretary; Caroline Ozment, treasure and Geneve Williams, reporter. Three new directors were chosen: Earl Woods, Don Winings and Morris Williams. Those whose terms do not expire until January are Charles Skelton, Jack Oliver, Jerry Rowings and Robert Patton Jr. Ruth Budd and Arthur Prather were able to come after suffering long illness which will require rest for many months yet. Ruth reports buying a new black and white pinto and enjoys watching her family ride until she is able. The above mentioned thanked the club for their many cards and visitors. Col. and Mrs. Warne were the first to plan a trail ride when the weather breaks in the spring. A future horseman made his first appearance, the month-old grandson of the Roy Hartman's. We have them to thank for the bail-point pens that he gave to all so we weren't borrowing pencils for the voting. A committee composed of Daisy Buttery, Earl Woods and Ruth Budd were appointed to choose the place, entertainment and refreshments for the next

meeting.

The remainder of the evening was spent in visiting and square

dancing.

Spy Posed As Catholic Priest NEW YORK UPI — An alleged Soviet spy who used ihe name of a Roman Catholic priest was stripped of his false identity, but his female eoconspirator today remained hidden behind her mystery mask. A new indictment handed up in Brooklyn federal court said the alleged Russian spy who took the name of Robert K. Baltch really is Alexander Sokolov, 44, of Tiflis, Russia. The true identity of his alleged accomplice, using the name of Joy Ann Garber Baltch, remained a mystery. Both have refused to talk. They were being held without bail on espionage charge that could result in the death penalty for both. No trial date has

been set.

The real Robert K. Baltch is a Catholic priest in Amsterdam, N.Y., and the real Joy Ann Garber is now Mrs. Robert Seskin. 33, of Norwalk, Conn. Why their names were used by the accused spies also remained a mystery in the ease which broke open last July 2.

Pope Considers Trip To India VATICAN CITY UPI — Pope Paul VI, who will travel to the Holy Land next month, is considering a trip to India next fall to attend an important Roman Catholic conference, Vatican sources said. Reports from New Delhi Tuesday said the Indian government was issuing a formal invitation to the pontiff to visit that coun-

try.

Reliable sources first said 10 days ago that the Pope might go to Bombay for the opening of the Eucharistic Congress there Nov. 28, 1964, if everything went well on his Holy Land pilgrimage Jan. 4-6. The pontiff was not expected to make any public statement on an Indian visit until after the Holy Land tour, according to the sources. A Eucharistic Congress is a solemn gathering of Catholic clergy and layment from all over the world. The Pope is usually represented by a delegate, who presides.

C OOKIE CHAMP MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. UPI Bethel College sophomore Paul Goodman, San Jose, Calif., won a Christmas cookie baking contest Wednesday by submitting a 2,300-pound cookie. Goodman said he sold shares to about 250 classmates, raised S350 and bought the ingredients — more than 1,000 pounds of cookie mix, about 800 pounds of powdered sugar and large quantities of shortening. Sam Sherwood, the somewhat shocked radio station KDWB program director who set up the contest, gave Goodman 83,749, based on an earlier agreement to pay $1.63 a pound for the biggest entry. Sherwood said be had expected a five pound cookie. Goodman and volunteers spent most of Tuesday baking the giant cookie in the basement of Elim Baptist Church. They baked , five-pound slabs of cookie, assembled them and coated the cookie with frosting. They hauled the cookie in a pickup truck to the Foshay Tower, where the station has its Minneapolis studios. Goodman said he will pay his stockholders double their investment and use the rest to help pay his way through college.
