Christmas party at the Methodist Church in Prick Chapel Saturday, Dec. 7. at 1:30 p.m. Santa arrived and after asking all the little ones what they wished for Christmas, passed out apples and gifts for all. The Mother's then had their gift exchange. Mary Summers, outgoing president was given a gift of appreciation fur her work, well done. Everyone left wishing all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Annual Christinas Party Is Enjoyed The annual Christmas party of the Jefferson Home Demonstration Club was held Thursday noon, Dec. 12 at Baker's Seafood restaurant. There were present sixteen members, one child and one guest. After lunch the new President Mrs. Helen Sinclair passed out

the new books, appointed lesson leaders and committees for the coming year. We then drew for our secret sisters for next year. We then with much fun tried to guess our secret sisters foi the past year and exchanged oui Christmas gifts. The meeting closed on a happy mood for all. Greencastle, Ind., has departed Norfolk, Va. aboard the destroyer USS Bache for a five-month tour of duty with the Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean. Mrs. Or\iIIe Perkins is Hostess To Club The Jacksonetts Home Demonstration Club met at the home of Mrs. Orville Perkins on Tuesday, December 10, where a pitch-in dinner was enjoyed by eleven members, the house was decorated in keeping with the Christmas season. The President, Mrs. Burley Malayer called the meeting to order by reading the thought of the month. Mrs. William McMullen gave the history of the song of the month, It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" then led the group in singing. Pledges were given to the American and Christian flags led by Mrs. Irene Stanley. Roll call was answered by hints on gift wrapping, Treasurer's report was given. The Secretaries repo: t was read and approved. Mrs. Burley Malayer installed the new officers in the candle light ceremony which is very impressive. The new president, Mrs. William McMullen, took charge of the meeting. The new’ program books were handed out all went through them together, planning the coming year. Mrs. Alice Hatfield and Mrs. McCullen. had the program, Mrs. Hatfield gave a reading entitled The Real Meaning of Christmas” Mrs. McMullen gave “Twas The Night Before Christmas” in a contest. It was very very interesting, and all joined in singing "Away in a Manger.” "Oh, Little Town of Bethleham” and Silent Night." This concluded the program. Each one present received a gift from the Christmas tree. Mrs. James Johnston was a guest.

No matter how widespread the malady of sin, the Great Physician has the cure. Personal And Local News Uriel's The Twentieth Century Club will meet Wednesday at 2 p. m. with Mrs. Ethel Nelson. On December 22nd the Roachdale School will present the • Messiah" with the High School chorus and church choirs, under the direction of John Wilson music teacher in Roachdale High School. The performance is open to the public. Miss Marty MeKeehan a student at Indiana University will appear as a member of a panel on station WTTV Chanel 4 at 11:C0 a.m. on Thursday, December 19th. Miss MeKeehan is a political science major in the school of Arts & Sciences. The W. S. C. S. of Gob in church will hold the Christmas meeting Dec. 19, 1963, 7:30 p.m. in Charterhouse. The topic of discussion will be "If We Had Been In Bethlehem.” The cast of the play and the choir will be made up of our own members. Please come and bring your friends. Two former local men have received promotions at the Merchants National Bank and Trust Company of Indianapolis, Robert D. West, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth West was promoted to assistant vice president and Frank E. Donner. son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Donner was promoted to trust officer. Ray H. French, DePauw University art professor on sabbatical leave this year, is having a one-man exhibition of etchings and metal relief prints at Galleria Schneider in Rome, Italy. The show, which opens December 23 and countinues to January 15, includes four new etchings based on Etruscan symbolism which French has executed while in
Italy.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cummings of Clovcrdale, are the parents of a son born Monday at the Putnam County Hospital. The Hurst-Collins American Legion of Clovcrdale will have Treat night for the Children of the Cloverdale Community Monday, Dec. 23 at the Post Home. City firemen were called to Harrison Hall, on the DePauw University campus, at 9:25 Monday night. They reported an overheated motor in an elevator head. No damage was listed. Greencastle Freshmen defeated Clinton freshmen 49 to 30 Monday evening at Clinton. All Greencastle boys played well, and this was the first defeat for the Clinton Freshmen. Mr .and Mrs. Dennis Sutherlin attended the funeral of Mrs. Sutherlin's uncle, Noah Kerns, in Shoals Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Owen Jeffries, of Greencastle, is also a niece of the deceased. The Christmas program at the Union Chapel Church will be held Sunday night, Dec. 22, at 6:30. Everyone is welcome. There will be a fellowship meeting after the program. Each family is asked to bring a plate of cookies. Drinks will be furnished. We extend an invitation to everyone in the community to come. New Providence Baptist Missionary Society will sponsor its annual Xrnas supper in the church basement on Friday night Dec. 20th at 6:30. Bring 50c girt for grab bag and food for a basket for the needy, and Love gift boxes to be turned in. Hostesses are Mrs. Sara Osborn. Mrs. Edna Cox, Mrs. Nancy Baldwin and Mrs. Kathy Booker. Martha Sillery is a patient m the Putnam County hospital her room number is 222. The annual Christmas program at the Somerset Christian Church will be held Sunday, Dec. 22, at 7 p. m. Word has been received here of the death of Fred O. Mitchell, former resident of this city, who died in Chicago Monday evening. Masons of Greencastle and surrounding area will join in a statewide observance of the Feast of St. John the Evangelist on Friday evening, December 27.

Recruiting News Sfc Marion Eveland, local Army recruiter, announces that on Dec. 29th, on CBS TV Network, the U.S. Army Parachute Team (Golden Knights) will be featured on their Sunday Sports Spectacular program. A majority of this TV program is air to air photography of free-fall parachuting, and made especially for this program and have never been seen before. This team has made a total of 331 demonstrations at Fairs, Air Shows, Civic Events, and military ceremonies in the U.S. and overseas. This group of "Golden Knights” is highly specialized and hails from one of the U.S. Army’s fine training centers; Fort Bragg, N.C. Sfc Eveland urges one and all to watch for this program on the CBS Sunday Sports Spectacular
on Dec. 29th.
James Hilburn, Moore Court, Greencastle, enlisted in the Regular Army in Dec. at Indianapolis. Jim formerly employed at the stone quarry, Greencastle, is going to work till after Christmas when he will be departing for basic training at Fort Knox, He enlisted along with a buddy, Orville R. Dickey, R.R. 3, Greencastle, and both have taken Engineers as choice for regular enlistment. They also entered under the "Holiday Leave Program" whereby they can remain till after the holiday.

Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Sutherlin, 1006 S. Jackson, city, announces the engagement of their daughter, Mary Jane, to Martin H. Kruse, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kruse, Coatesville. No date has been set fo- the wedding. Lewis Transferred Captain Teddy H. Lewis has been stationed at Selfridge Air Force Base, Michigan, for two and one half years but has been recently transferred to a base at Columbus, Mississippi, following a four months upgrade training course in Strod Air Force Base., Nevada, and Castle Air Force Base, California. At the latter base Captain Lewis learned to fly the new KC 135, used in mid air refueling. This tanker replaces the KC97 tanker, previously piloted by him. Captain Lewis and his family, who recently purchased their home in Columbus, will appreciate hearing from friends at their new address—Captain Teddy H. Lewis, R. R. 5, Ridge Road. Columbus, Miss. Captain Lewis is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lunie H. Lewis of Eminence, formerly of Greencastle, R. R. 2.
