West Floyd Club In November Meeting West Marion Home Demonstration Club held their regular November meeting at the home of Mrs. Alfred Hanks with Mrs. Earl Sanders acting as co-hos-tess. Nine members answered roll call. The lesson on Food Additives was given by Mrs. Ray Lawson and Mrs. J. L. Alexander. It was brought out that additives are the chemicals added to foods; they may he as common to us as pepper or Sucaryl. but we do not recognize their chemical names. Vitamins added are additives. This word was coined in 1910. The Food and Drug Administration was set up for the protection of the public. In 1959 the laws were so revised as to set limits on the amount of additives of different kinds to be permitted in foods. This also rovers the residual amounts of insecticides and pesticides allowed in animal foods. Mrs. Eugene Ozment was appointed to buy a gift to represent the club for the Putnam County Mental Health Program. The president and vice-presi-dent will plan the regular meeting for December.
