She wrote to the Fort Hood, Tex., commanding general to ask for a "lift” to West Germany in Operation “Big Lift," saying she wanted to visit her boy friend but couldn’t afford the fare. Mrs. Dorsie Allgood was hostess to the country club Wednesday afternoon. There were fifteen members and five guests and a group of children present to enjoy the afternoon. The guests were Mrs. Dick Reed, Mrs. Jack Oliver, Mrs. Roscoe Oliver Sr. Mrs. Lyle Clodfelter and Mrs. Leland Allgood. All enjoyed the
white elephant sale, a T.V. Commerical contest and games. Mrs. Allgood served lovely refreshments of peach delight, ice cream and ice tea. Mr. and Mrs. Cletis Staley of New Mexico were guests of Mrs. Nona Routh and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Shannon and daughters the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Grider, Mrs. James Maudleco. Mr. Joe Brothers. Mrs. Dennis Clodfelter and Mrs. Maude Brothers called at the De Baunn funeral parlors in Terre Haute Tuesday evening to pay their respects to the memory of Mr. Algan Barnes. Mr. Barnes was a brother of Mrs. Leonard Boiler of this community. Several from here attended the supper and Bazaar at the Raccoon church Thursday evening. Kenneth Miller has sold his farm and will move to Roachdale in the near future. Paul Grider has bought the Clones f 4*m southeast of here. There was a friendship supper at community house Sunday
evening.

Mr. an Mrs. Lewis Baler and Mr. James Bales attended a birthday dinner, Sunday in honor of Mr. Lewis and James Bales which was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Harmless of near New Winchester. Mr. Maude Brothers spent Friday night with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brothers and family. It being Bobby's birthday. Mrs. Brothers remained until Sunday while Mrs. Clodfelter spent the weekend with Mrs. Bertha Clodfelter and on Sunday they accompanied Mr. and Mrs. John Fulwider to Matoon, Illinois where they visited relatives. Mrs. Alice Keck and Mrs. Wm Duncan in company with other relatives attended the wedding of A/2c Dale G. Wilshire in Kansas Friday evening. Mr. Wilshire is a grandson of Mrs. Duncan. He is with the military forces and is stationtd at Shillings Air Force Base in Kansas.
