Sliding Earth Is New Threat BELLUNO, Italy UPI — Authorities warned today that a mass of earth is cascading toward the Vajont Reservior, creating a new threat to survivors

of last week's dam disaster. Osvaldo Martinelli, deputy mayor of the vacated village of Eito, broadcast the warning by loundspeaker to villagers camping out in the woods above the reservoir. “Go away! Go away from the lake!” Martinelli's amplified voice roared into the hills. “Another slide is coming!”

Rescue workers said a mass of more than 30 million cubic yards of earth is sliding down the side of Mt. Toe at a rate of about one foot an hour. Thty said the earth was the upper part of reservoir, which was divided into two purls by the giant landslide that devastated the Piave Valley Wednesday night.

Three Grass Fires The Reelsville Fire Dept, was called to extinguish tnree grass fires Friday afternoon. At 12:30, a grass fire was reported at the home of Maurice McCullough south of Reelsville. At 3:30 p.m. a grass and brush fire was reported burning along

the New YorK central Railroad right-of-way north of the saddle elub in Madison Township. The State Farm Fire Dept. and Conservation officers also assisted in putting out the fire. At 6:00 p..m. the dump on old highway 40 west of Pleasant Gardens was reported on fire.
