A H r A E Z H p) 1 K A M CAMPUS COLUMN n k o n v i t v x * n DePauw’s social side made itself known this past weekend by beginning in its venerable guise. To climax the first week of classes for the 1963-64 school year sororities opened their doors Friday evening to introduce their new pledge classes recently acquired in rush. These open houses at the various Greek living units on campus followed formal pledging ceremonies for the new members. Freshmen men as well as many upperclassmen found themselves donning sport coats and ties to visit each sorority and get a good look at the new women. The open houses were preceded by the traditional kiss-ins after which guests at many of the houses were presented to the pledges in receiving lines. Many houses served refreshments and offered various forms of entertainment such as music by campus comboso and dancing. As a follow-up, Saturday evening, many fraternity housese featured “pepped-up date nights." ******** Inaugural ceremonies for President-elect William E. Kerstetter will be held this week of October 9-12 with many official events to be featured. Dr. Kerstetter will be the sixteenth president to be in-
augurated at the University.
The schedule includes convocations throughout the week. Saturday morning at 10 a. m. Kerstetter will be instated ky the President of the Joint Board of Trustees, Glen \V. Thompson on the East College lawn. At noon there will be an inaugural luncheon and at
4:30 a formal reception.
