Cattle Bring $200,000 PLAINFIELD UPI Nearly half of the 470 head up for sale al public auction in a two-day liquidation of Indiana's largest dairy cattle breeding herd brought $200,000 Monday.

Russ Bolster Forces LONDON UPI — The Soviet Union was reported today to be strengthening its guard along the frontier with Red China and its naval forces in the Far East. Diplomatic sources said both moves appeared to be precautions prompted by the worsening Sino-Soviet conflict.

John Takes A Ride WASHINGTON UPI John F. Kennedy Jr., took a ride with his father -Monday when the President rode to the Sheraton Park Hotel to address the International Monetary Conference. As they walked out of the presidential office, Kennedy took a white handkerchief from his pocket wiped the boy's nose. The youngster carried models of jet planes in both hands as his father helped him into a White House limousine.

New Sheriff INDIANAPOLIS UPI—Robert H. Fields, 38, an attorney and former FBI agent, was sworn in today as Marion County sheriff to fill a vacancy left by the death of Sheriff James O. Hiner last Friday, Fields was appointed late Monday by Marion County commissioners to serve the 39 months remaining in Hiner's term. Hiner had served only nine months.

Vote Op. Referendum CAMBRIDGE, Md. UPI — A near-record voter turnout was expected today in a city charter referendum which could climax six months of racial strif-' in this Chesapeake Bay Community. There were prediction that up to 80 per cent of the city’s 3.800 white and 1.500 Negro voters would cast ballots on the proposed charter amendment guaranteeing equal service to all, regardless of race, in places of public accommodation.
