CARD OF THANK8 I wish to thanks the Putnam Co. Hospital Staff especially the Nurse Aids, Nurses, Dr. Sehauwecker and Dr. Ellett they were all wonderful as well as all the new friend's I made while in the Hosital. Also the one’s that sent cards, flower’s and came to visit me. Thank's again Ivan W. Clark Old Gold Downs Evansville, 19-7 A new chapter was added to DePauw’s football record book Saturday as the Tiger line held Evansville to an amazing minus four yards rushing and personally engineered two touchdowns in DePauw’s 19-7 victory. The aroused performers before an estimated 5.100 Methodist Youth-Band Day fans was a complete reversal of last week's disappointing show at Illinois Wesleyan. Furthermore, Saturday's convincing win successfully launched DePauw's rugged six- game conference slate. Alert defensive line action on the third play of the game set up DePauw's first touchdown.

Guard John Thomas covered an Ace hobble on the Evansville 33, and fullback Bill Alcott slammed over from the one-yard line 10 running plays later. Dick Dean added the extra point and the Tigers were on the new scoreboard in just six minutes. Evansville’s only first half threat came on a drive that started late in the first quarter and spilled into the second period. Hitting five of six passes, Ace quarterback Kim DeVault drove his team to DePauw’s 11, where a third down pass failed. So did a field goal on the next down from the 19. DePauw narrowly missed a touchdown seconds before the half ended. Originating with an intercepted pass, the Tigers’ drive ended on the Evansville 11-yard line when the gun sounded, DePauw leading 7-0. After Dick Dean missed a field goal from the Evansville’ 19-yard line six minutes into the third period, neither team threatened until the hosts tallied with 59 second left in the third period. Bill Alcott capped that 50yard. 13-play affair with another one-yard plunge. A bad pass from center foiled Dean's PAT kick. The Tigers were back at the TD door early in the fourth quarter but that effort stalled when Weir’s rollout pass was intercepted on the Ace 13. On the very next series, though, Evansville — punting from its own end zone—saw guard Stu Young batter down the attempted kick and watched as end Earl Liebich smothered it in the Ace end zone for De-

Pauw’s final touchdown. Dave Joyce’s attempt to run for the two points failed, and DePauw led 19-0 with 8:24 left to play. Evansville got on the scoreboard 20 seconds before the game ended. DeVault hit his 14th pass in 22 tries, a one-yard to Dave Bennett for the TD. Key play in the 62-yard thrust was a 35-yard pass interference penalty assessed against an over anxious Tiger defender who tackled the intended receiver while the ball was at mid-flight. For the second straight game Bill Alcott led DePauw rushers with 63 yards in 16 carries. Doug W’eir, whose mending knee survived 11 rushes got 48 yards. DePauw out rushed Evansville 218 -4, but the Aces grabbed passing stats, 142 to DePauw’s 60 yards. Next Saturday DePauw will fat* Ball State at Muncie.
