He says such action would only aid the Communists. But the Chief Executive admitted Monday night he was concerned about a “deterioration" in the war agninst the Communisthacked Viet Cong guerrillas in Viet Nam, particulary in the S ugon area. He made it clear the “deterioration” he referred to was caused by the Ngo Dinh Diem government’s conflict with the Buddhists.

West led the king of hearts, * continued with the ace, and then led the jack to make dummy
l ruff.
Declarer, a respectable type who wouldn’t think of a dog even if he fell over a hydrant, j drew trumps, cashed the ace of clubs and led a low club toward dummy. West naturally played ! low and South thought he was ! doing his full duty by wondering I whether to play the queen or the j ten of clubs from dummy. It didn't actually matter. I South had already fubbed the hand. East could... win the | trick and get out with a high j club to make South ruff again. Eventually South would lose a diamond trick for a score of minus 100 points. GOOD MATERIAL •4 The play to the first three ] showed that West started with a very strong six-card heart suit. This was very good yelping | material, so why did West keep j quiet? Clearly West had nothing else > : to bark about. East surely held the queen of diamonds and the king of clubs. If South came to this correct conclusion he could make the contract. After drawing trumps South should lead out the top diamonds and give East his diamond trick. East must then lead away from his king of clubs, so that South avoids the loss of a club trick.
