Lockyear. a member of Bosse s 1962 state basketball champion and stite shotput titlist last spring, and Albert Holtz Jr. t were leaving a bowling alley late Monday night when they were accosted by the five youths. A fracas followed some nanu-
cailing. Lockyvar ioid police. Lockyear received a cut under the left eye and Holt* suffered head wounds that took stitches to close. Both boys were treated at a hospital and released. Ernest Harold Johnson, 48, died Tuesday at Clinton following an extended illness. He was born in Greencastle on June 2, 1905, the son of Samuel and Clyde Lake Johnson. Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the First Funeral Home in Clin-
ton.
Word has been received of the death of a former Greencastle resident, Mrs. Grace Brown McCulloch of Portland, Oregon. Mrs. McCulloch w i s the sister of Mrs. Lois Dorsett, of Warren, Mich., and Mrs. Clarel Williamson. Greencastle Route 2. Funeral services were held in PortlandThe sixth annual Gardenside picnic was held Sunday, Sept. 1, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Crask. First held in 1958 and repeated each year since, except 1961, this year’s affair was attended by seventy-seven Gardensiders. John Moore was elected chairman for 1964. Mr. Crask is the dean of Gardenside residents, having occupied his home at 814 since June 1955.

Unity Pioneer Expires METZ, France UPI — Robert Schuman, one of the pioneers of European unification, died today
at the age of 77.
A spokesman for the family said Schuman died this morning at his heme in Scy-Chazelles near this eastern French city. He had been ill since he suffered a stroke in 1961. He almost died four weeks ago on suffering
a second stroke.

Last rites for Mrs. Eva Lawson, 50, will be held at the Mau Funeral Home in Rockville at 2 p m. Thursday. Mrs. Lawson, who passed away Monday at the Vermillion County Hospital in Clinton, was a sister of Oran Jackman of Greencastle.
