CROSS IS BURNED INDIANAPOLIS UPI—A sixfoot cross was burned in the yard of a North Side residence in a racially mixed neighborhood, authorities reported today. The cross, wrapped in cloth and soaked with oil before It was set afire, burned in the front yard of the Charles A. Sullivan home. Deputy Sheriff William Butler, who investigated, said the cross apparently was placed in the Sullivan yard by mistake and may have been meant for the property of a nearby resident who belongs to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
