'lata.

After the 1958 tests are completed. the President said, U . S scientists will tell him whetliei they provided most, if not all. of the information they sought. If the scientists report success in obtaining the needed information, the President said he would then consider very seriously a suspension of further nuclear j testing. He said it would be perfectly possible that the United Stiles, in that event, would make a unilateral statement of its in | tent ions to halt testing. Th.e President thus left open j 1 he possibility of more tests in j the future. Secretary of State i John Foster Dulles said Tuesday the United States hopes it can stop testing at the conclusion of the spring-summer series. But the secretary said the “likelihood” is tbit thcie will be need for further tests.
