Mrs. Mary Dale MeClintock Hostess To Club The Modern Mothers Study club met on Wednesday, April 2, at 8:00 p. m. at the home of Mrs. Harvey Owens with Mary Dale MeClintock as hostess and Betty Lear as co-hostess. There were eighteen members present with many wearing their 'Easter bonnets. The judges decided that Ann MoKeehan wore the prettiest and Georgia Barrett wore the most unique. They were both presented with gifts. Miss Helen Werneke was our speaker for the evening. She gave a -tery interesting talk on the placement of welfare children. After a short business meeting the hostess served delicious refreshments. The next meeting will be held in the home of Mrs. Ruth Hammer on May 7th.

One of the country’s outstanding concert organists, Marilyn Mason, will be featured at DePauw University’s 12th annual Conference on Church Music here
April 22-23.
A member of the University of Michigan faculty since 1946, Miss Mason will both lecture and perform during the two-day seminar for Midwestern church organists, choral directors, and ministers of music. She wall present a special recital Wednesday afternoon, April 23, following her appearance as a soloist with the DePauw symphony orchestra and Gobin Church choir the previous even-

In addition to Miss Mason, conference personnel will include two ministers of music—Ellen B. CRASH KILLS INFANT BEDFORD (UP) — An infant was killed and five persons were | injured, one critically, in a twovehicle collision on wet Ind. ,37 near Mitchell late Thursday. Killed outright in the crash was six-month-oid Mitchell Porter. The victim’s mother, Mary, 20, sustained minor injuries. In serious condition in a Bedford hospital was Lawrence Wheeler, 22, Orleans driver of a light tmek which crashed into a car driven by Mary N. Gaines. 20. Mitchell. Gaines, sustained j minor injuries, HAS HEART SURGERY INDIANAPOLIS (UP)— Sur-, geons at the Indiana University I Medical Center conducted their second operation in 24 hours today on children born with holes in the wall between the two chambers of their hearts. Stanley Gates, 7, son of the Vernon Ga.teses of Richmond, underwent surgery Thursday morning which lasted more than four hours. Doctors said the operation was “successful.” Rebecca Jane Morgan, 10. Marion, underwent an identical operation Wednesday and it, too, was termed "successful.”
