SOCIETY Mrs. Thelma Goslin Is Club Hostess The Jacksonettes Home Demonstration Club met with the Roachdale Club at the home of Mrs. Thelma Goslin, on Saturday, Feb. 1st, 1958. Mrs. Goslin opened the meeting by asking Mrs. Ada Young to give the history of the seng of the month, “Onward Christian Soldiers." Then we all sang this song together. Remaining standing we- repeated the pledge to flag and the club creed. Mrs. Mildred Cassady gave the lesson “Informal Entertaining”. There are many different kinds of informal entertaining from Buffet meals, club meetings to a casual cup of coffee at the kitchen table. Some of the rea*sons we give parties and enterI tain are because we enjoy other j peoples company, to keep from ; being lonely, special holidays, to | repay social obligations and because its your turn. The main things to remember are, have a well planned party, simple refreshments and be a well rested hostess. Don’t leave everything till the last minute. Try to be a good conversationalist, but if you cannot, be a good listener. Enjoy your own party. Refreshments were served and enjoyed very much. Ernest Rosenquist, 50, and Larry O. Newburg, 59, Lyons, were taken to Little Company of St.. Mary Hospital, where Rosenquist’s condition was said to be

CHICAGO UP — Four Air Force reservists suffered minor injuries Tuesday when a C-119 cargo plane nosed into a snowbank on takeoff from O'Hare International Airport. An Air Force spokesman said the twin-engine craft was starting on a routine training mission when it developed a torque drop j in the light engine. Bandit Killed At Blue Island, III.; CHICAGO UP — One man was killed and another wounded today when police surprised six bandits trying to steal a heavy ! safe from a refinery depot in suburban Blue Island. Authorities identified the victim through papers as Michael Rudes, 41, Riverdale. Taken to Cook County Hospital with a leg wound was Richard Zierlon, 38, a sign hanger. Two of the bandits were captured unharmed and the other two escaped in a hail of police bullets.
