—TRUMAN Capt. Harry S. Tinman, the artilleryman of World War I, has a soft heart for soldiers, especially generals, barring, of course Gen. Douglas MacArthur. Eisenhower relates in his “Crusade foi Europe” that in 1945 Truman looked him in the eye and said: ‘ General, there is nothing that you may want that I won’t try to help you get. That definitely and specifically includes the presidene in 1948.” Times have changed considerably since then.
