Orciiing lead—0 Q West opened the queen of diamonds, and dummy’s ace won. South yielded to the tempting trump finesse, but this lost to

West’s queen.

This gave West the chance to lead another diamond, forcing South to use up one of his prec-

ious trumps.

South next proceeded to lead out trumps, but this used up the test of his trumps. West was eure

to gain the lead with the ace of clubs to take the r< * of the diamonds. Down two. Declarer must not try the trump finesse. After winning the first trick with the aee of diamonds, he takes the ace and king of trumps. The next <3 top is to lead a club to dummy’s ten. Clubs are continued until West takes the ace. CAN AFORD RUFF West can leal another diamond to make South wifste a Lump, but South can still afford this. He has two trumps left «s many as West had. South cannot afford to lead another trump. He must lead out his clubs, making West ruff- That will leave West with one trump t> South's two trumps. South thus ays in control of the hand.
