NEW YORK (UP)—Manager Fred Haney, annoyed at insinuations that his Milwaukee Braves might be routed in four straight games, called on the controversial right-hander Lew Burdett today to “get us all even - ’ in the World Series. The Braves were one down. | having lost to crafty Whitey Ford of the New York Yankees in Wednesday's opening game, 3-1, but Haney was confident “we'll be all even when we play In Milwaukee on Saturday.” Burdette, 30, won 17 games and lost nine for the Braves this season as opposing National League I clubs insisted that he throws a “spitter.” "We ll be watching to see if he does?," saLd Manarger Casey Sten- ' gel of the Yankees, who sent his little southpaw star, Bobby Shantz, out against Budette to try to make it two in a row. At the start of the 6th inning Milwaukee was leading, 4 to 2. HIRE CHICAGO ARCHITECT
