The Shetrone softball team won the league championship Tuesday by defeating the V.F.W. 1 to 0 in tlK- final game of the si ason. The Shetrone squad completed the schedule with 10 wins and two losses. Jerry Lewis, of the Reelsville team, received the award for being the outstanding player David Grimes, who played with Shetrone, was honored for being the leading batter. Final Standings

Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Goodpaster, of Coatesville, are the parents of a son bom Tuesday at the Putnam County Hospital. Mrs. Joseph B. Campbell is undergoing major surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville this Friday. The Campbells are former residents of Greencastle. The Rev. William Harvey Thompson, 85, father of Granville Thompson, 623 Anderson street, died Monday at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Reverend Thompson had been a Methodist pastor for 51 years. He is survived by the widow and five chil-
dren.

Hanks Reunion Held Sunday Th£ annual Hanks reunion was held at Robe-Ann Park on Sunday, August 4. As usual a bountiful basket dinner was enjoyed by relatives from Fillmore. Bainbridge. Lafayette, Indianapolis, Mooresville, Greencastle, Noblesville. Upper Darby, Pa.. Champaign. 111., and Terre Haute. Shortly after dinner Roy Hanks, president, called a business meeting and officers consisting of Ross Hanks, president and Marie Pierson, secretary-treasur-er' wore elected for the coming year. A short program consisting of two readings delightfully given by Zada Pruitt was enjoyed by all. Late in the afternoon the meeting adjourned to return again on the first Sunday in August, 195s Walnut Chapel Homecoming Sunday The annual Homecoming and basket dinner of the Walnut Chapel Friends church will be held August 11. There will be no Sunday School Worship services will begin at 11:00 A. M.

Mrs. Charles A. Thompson, wife of Captain Thompson, was hostess at a dessert given in honor of Mrs. Walter C. Hock and Mrs. Hubert Giltz, wives of the new superintendent and assistant superintendent of the Indiana State Farm, respectively, at the State Farm Skeet Range Club House on Monday afternoon. Invitations were issued to all of the women living on the farm reservation and was well attended by twenty-two. The club house w r as beautifully decorated with flow-ers of the season. The serving table w 7 as centered with an arrangement of gladiolus, tuberoses and greenery
with each individual table centerd with hybiscus. Mrs. Caroll vloore was in charge of decorat•ng. Assisting Mrs. Thompson with the serving was Mrs. Thomas Dobbins, with Mrs. Richard Steinert and Mrs. Doyle Clover pouring. Games w r ere played and prizes w-ere won by Mrs. Stanley Heileger, Mrs. Allan Clarkson and Mi s. Doyle Clover. Mr. and Mrs. Hock are from LaPorte and have tw-o daughters, Joan 15 and Sharon 8. Mr. and Mrs. Giltz are from Brazil and are well known in the Greencastle community.

Ellis Tuesday and was fined a total ot $20.75. Aubrey w-as arrested by city police Monday afternoon on East Washington street. James King Loveless, a registrant of the Merced, Pennsylvania, draft board, and Frederic Michael McLain, of Pasadena, Calif., : were transfers through the local I Selective Service Board on Wed- ! nesday. Both registrants reported to the Armed Forces examining station for physical examinations. When Linus Gleason of Fillmore made a left hand turn without signalling at the Omar plant south on 43, a car driven by Miss Maitha Freeland, a nurse in Union Hospital iu Terre Haute, hit him broadside early Wednesday morning. Neither occupant of the cars was hurt, but property damage was more than $300 for both cars, Francis Hamilton, state trooper who investigated reported.

A bountiful dinner was spread at the noon hour.
