Rackets Suspect Takes Own Life
SEATTLE (UP) — Terry McNulty, a colorful race track figure mentioned briefly in testimony before the special Senate Labor Racket Committee, was found dead near here Thursday from a self-inflicted bullet wound. King County coroner’s deputies said McNulty. 69, shot himself with a .38 caliber pistol. His body was found in his automobile. McNulty, who left a suici 1 note, was one of 15 perr-m sought by subpena servers of ' ao King County grand jury, cali to investigate officials of the Teamsters Union, according to Prosecutor Charles O. Can.>11. During recent years, McNulty was one of the ]< uling trainer, at Longacres race track here. One of the oldest Teamster officers in Seattle, he h.i i entered the union while driving horse-drawn drays around the city as a teenager.
:;edwell must go back TO FLORIDA ON CHARGES CHICAGO (UP) — Florida authorities were advised today to “come and get” Edward (Bennie the Dishwasher) Bedwell, one time suspect in a double murder here, to face charges of raping a 13-year-old girl. Bedwell's last hope of avoiding extradition ended Thursday when Chief Justice Wilbert Crowley of Criminal Court turned down his appeal in a 15-minute hearing. The Paris, Tenn., illiterate broke down and cried when his att mey, David Bradshaw, explained to him he would have to !• ve Chicago’s Cook County jail for Florida. Bradshaw had challenged the ’alidity of the Florida warrant in appealing the extradition. Bedwell, 21, is accused of raping the Florida girl while working as a carnival roustabout at DeLand in 1953.
INDIANAPOLIS (UP)—The Indiana Toll Road Commission ! said today that actual driving tests showed “substantial savings” in using the Northern Indiana Toll Road and connecting turnpikes instead of freeways. The Indiana Motor Truck Association and Eastern Express, Inc., Terre Haute, cooperated in the tests April 23-29 as the commission sought to prove to truck owners they would be better off using the pay-as-you-go superhighways for transporting cargoes.

City firemen reported smoke damage only after making a run to the home of William Tharp, 808 South Illinois street, fit 11:30 a. m. The firemen said that a rusted heat pipe from the furnace caused the smoke.
Leaders of Girl Scouts are being offered a splendid opportunity or training in out of door skills and activities by Mrs. Grafton Longden, Sr. On Monday May 27, leaders taking the course will meet at Mrs. Longden’s home from 1 until 3 p. m. The following Wednesday, May 29, from 9 a. m. until 2 p. m. the group will again assemble at Mrs. Longden’s for further training and instruction. While the training course is being offered primarily for the leaders who completed the first part of the course which was presented last Fall, it is open to any leader of Girl Scouts.
