fir I'nlfed Press The Soviet Union threw it? upport today to a Syrian complaint in the U. N. Security Council that Israel had endangned Middle East peace by building a “military” bridge in a demilitarized zone between the
r countrles. A dispatch from Damascus said Soviet Ambassador Sergei Nemtchina. pledged Soviet support in a 45-minute talk with Syrian Foreign Minister Salah Bitar. Russia backed Egypt earlier this week in debate on the Suez Canal. The Syrians saiu Israel had constructed a Bailey bridge in the Huleh marsh area north of the Biblical Sea of Galilee—scene if several Israeli-Syrian clashes —in direct violation of the 1949 armistice agreements ending the Palestine war. Israel said it built a bridge for use by earth moving equipment; Syria says the bridge could be used for tanks and other heavy military equipment. A U. N. investigation found the bridge could be strengthened for military puruposes but thought the bridge was built in connection with reclamation work. Premier David Bcn-Gurion’s Mapai Labor Party held a series
I of conferences on the threatened revolt by the left wing Mapalm and Ahdut Zhoda parties over acceptance of the Eisenhower Doctrine. The showdown will come during parliamentary debate on the cabinet's decision to accept a watered down version of the doc- | trine. Egyptian and British trade representatives converged on j Rome today for talks aimed at restoring Anglo-Egyptian trade relations. Egyptian sources said Egypt would start off the talks by demanding “hundreds of millions of dollars” in reparations for the Anglo-French-Israeli invasion last fall.

Emmert said the 1937 act had ben used by some manufacturers and retailers to "fix prices foi every retailer in Indiana” on certain products. The decision stemmed from a suit filed in Marion County by the Bissell Carpet Sweeper Co.. Grand Rapids, Mich. Bissell claimed the Shane Co., Inc., Indianapolis, sold its sweepers below the minimum price agreed on ir contracts with certain retailers. The Supreme Court said in its ruling that contracts between manufacturers and various dealers setting a minimum price were constitutional.
