Delta Kappa Gamma Hold* Ceremonies Members of Epsilon chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met Saturday afternoon. May 11, for a birthday tea and honoring ceremony at the Union Building. Mrs. John Boyd presided at the attractive tea table before the business meeting and ceremonials. Hostesses were Miss Dorothy Harris, Mrs. Estelle Hall, Mrs. Hazel Owens. Miss Louise Knauer, Mrs. Waneta Hazlett and Miss Mabel Joseph. The business meeting was conducted by President Audrey Beatty, who presented a most interesting report of the state convention, recently held at French Lick-Sheraton Hotel, to which : she was a delegate. The convention began on Friday evening, April 26, with a Fun Fest for all delegates and a showing of colored slides of the dedication ceremonies held last summer for the new International Headquarters Building in Austin, Texas. Saturday morning and afternoon delegates attended business meetings and panel discussion groups. The noon birthday luncheon featured a beautiful Founder’s Day ceremony and a lovely birthday ceremony. Evening speaker at the Red Rose Banquet was Dr. Marguer,te Malm, profe-ssor of psychology at Indiana State Teachers Collede, Terre Haute. The subiect of her address was “Utopia.” An inspiring and vivacious speaker, Dr. Malm urged that we arrive at a new concept of ourselves, that we learn to see things with our mind’s eye—clearly and accurately. The last meeting of the convention was the Sunday morning bn akfast, with Mrs. Jeanadele Shimler of Bronxville, New York, as speaker. Mrs. Shimler, a musical therapist in a Veteran’s hospital, spoke on the subject, “1 Prescribe Music.” and demonstrated some of the techniques j of this rather new treatment for mental and physical ills. After Miss Betty’s report an 1 effecticve birthday candle light- | ing ceremony was conducted by Mrs. Edna Hayes Taylor, assisted by Hrs. Cyrus Dryden and Mrs. Frank DeVaney. Next, Miss Mabel Joseph was introduced. She conducted a ceremony honoring three members of tiie local organization, Mrs. E. R. Bartley, Mrs. Edna Hayes Taylor, and Miess Mildred Dimmick, who was unable to be present. Miss Joseph expressed eloquently the society’s appreciation for the work of these three educators and presented each with a remembrance from the

chapter.

Music during the meeting was ■ led bv Mrs. Staten Owens, music chairman.
