INDIANAPOLIS (UP) — A 19-year-old ex-convict was killed by police bullets early today when officers fired at him and a companion as they ran from a tavern they were robbing. Donald Lee Sexton, Indianapolis, who served 11 months at the Indiana State Farm for Indianapolis and Greencastle burg-la-ries, fell mortally wounded behind a Southeast Side tavern, Frank Mabry, 18, also of Indianapolis, was shot in the chest and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. They were hit by shots fired by Sgt. Melvin Osborn and Patrolman Howard E. Kelley, who answered a call from a motorist who said he saw somebody moving around in Tommy’s Tavern. Four officers answered the call. Two of them covered the front of the tavern while Kelley and Osborn covered the rear. Osborn said Sexton and Mabry ran out the back door and ignored orders to halt. Chicago Group Visits Campus
Appearing under the auspices of DePauw University’s music school, the Chicago Symphony Woodwind Quintet will perform here this evening. The special recital will begin at 8:15 in Meharry Hall and include works by Paganini, Tchaikowski, Debussy, and Bartok. On Saturday the woodwind artiste will conduct a clinic-work-shop for DePauw music students and for music directors and students in Central Indiana. Members of the quintet are Ralph Johnson, flute; Robert Mayer, oboe; Jerome Stowell, clarinet; Philip Farkas, French horn; and Wilbur Simpson, bassoon.
BLOUNTSTOWN, Fla. (UP)— Authorities here were confronted today with two bodies for the same man. They buried a drowning victim they thought was Clarence Robert White of Chattahoochee three weeks ago after the victim’s relatives identified him. But Thursday Sheriff W. C. Reeder of Calhoun County announced that a body bearing White’s identification cards had been fished out of the Chattahoochee River near Wewahitchka.

Lewis of the Universtiy of Wisconsin said Thursday night that theoretically a man barrelling through space at almost the speed of light would compress into one year a normal eight years back here on earth. Lewis said when the traveler : returned he would find he was seven years younger than his twin brother who had been plod- : ding at home. “He will have found a modem day fountain of youth,” he said.
MADISON, Ind. (UP)—Dwilla Elaine Loh, 6, was killed today when an automobile driven by a Canadian struck her as she crossed a highway to board a school bus. Dwilla, daughter of the Raymond Lohs, stepped into U .S. 421 in front of her home five miles north of here, into the path of a car driven by Emmanuel d’Aoust, 31, Mason, Que. John Ringwald, driver of the bus, said he had stopped in the highway with his red flasher signals and sign in operation, requiring motorists to stop. D’Aoust was questioned at the Jefferson County jail.

Missing Woman's Scarf Is Found
A new clue turned up Thursday in the search for Mrs. Ethel McGaughey, widow of Crawfordsville attorney Arthur McGaughey, who has been missing from her home since last Friday. A scarf belonging to the missing woman was found in the flood waters of Sugar Creek and was identified by members of i her family. Earlier, a purse belonging to Mrs. McGaughey was found near the same stream.

Red Smith, whose administration as chairman of the Indiana highway department during a land-buying scandal is under investigation, indicated today he wlil testify before a Senate committee. Smith was questioned for about half an hour in his hometowe of Milan Thursday night by Filo M. Sedillo and John L. Mutz, attaches of the Senate Public Works Committee which plans a hearing soon into the highway right-of way profits scandal. “He was very cooperative and he indicated he will be glad to testify before the Senate committee when it has a hearing,” Sedillo told newsmen. He said Smith was “very willing” to answer all questions and “he didn’t appear j to be hiding anything.”
