The championship basketball game of the Greencastle high •chool girls teams will be played Friday at 7:30 p. m. between the Freshman and Junior girls. This promises to be quite a tussle. There are three sister combinations playing against each other.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wallace, of Cloverialc*, are the parents of a son born at the Putnam county hospital. Harold Flint received word Wednesday that Putnam County Frozen Foods, Inc., placed second in the state ham curing contest held Sunday in Indianapolis during the convention of Indiana locker firms. Mr. and Mrs. George Friend w r ere in Ann Arbor, Michigan, for the weekend where they visited Dr. and Mrs. Wayne Whitaker and family. There is a slight improvement in the condition of Dr. Whitaker who has been ill for several weeks. A truck belonging to the George Long Trucking Company of Terre Haute overturned and rolled into a ditch on U. S. 40 during the night, state police reported. The accident occurred between Reelsville and Manhattan. Police said the driver escaped uninjured. Dr. C. L. Bieber, head of DePauw’s geology department, is attending meetings of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists in St. Louis this week. An international affair for geologists interested in oil explorations, the A APG conference will continue through Friday. The Putnam County Democratic Women’s Club will sponsor a Jefferson-Jackson day dinner April 10th, at 7:00 p. m., at the Boots ’N Saddle. Four Children iPerish In Fire COLUMBUS, Ohio (UP) — Four children, all under 7, burned to death Wednesday night when their home, 10 miles southeast of here caught fire from an overheated stove.
