Senate Demands Report On ’Hess' INDIANAPOLIS (UP) — The Indiana Senate today demanded a "complete and detailed repoi t” from state highway chairman John Pc. rs on his charges he found the department in a “mess” when he took office Jan. 15. Senators adopted by voice vote a resolution introduced by Sen. Keith Fraser, R-Portland, who said he wanted the report without embarrassing Peters. During debate, a minority Democrat charged the Republicans were tlying to "persecute” iormer Gov. George Craig, whose administrtaion was in control of the highway department before Peters became chairman. Sen. Warren W. Martin, Ddlarksville, said he feels sorry .‘or Craig and if the situaiton is is had as it has been reported ’let’s call a grand jury if necessary.” Fraser said he was sure the situation in the highway depai’tment was not a matter of “graft and corruption” but rather was ‘sloppy management.” Majority leader John W. Van .'Jess said the Republicans supported the resolution and intends by its action to “clean its own skirts.”
only apparent question is whether the agreements wall be signed while King Saud is visiting in Washington or later on Saudi Arabia. A report on the air base, arms and other agreements and understandings will be made public on Friday.
