Egypt To Make Demand Of U.N.

UNITED NATIONS. N. Y. (UP) — Egvpt will demand the United Nations vote economic sanctions against Israel or face indefinite delay in opening of the Suez Canal, Cairo reports said to-

day.

A United Press dispatch from Cairo said President Gamal Abdel Nasser and his cabinet ministers decided at a meeting Tuesday night to demand the United Nations ’’get tough” with Israel unless It completes unconditional withdrawal from the Gaza and Aqaba strips. Egyptian Foreign Minister Mahmoud Fawzi conferred here with Secretary-General Dag

"Jlammarskjold Tuesday and •"ed for an early meeting of the U. N. General Assembly to con-

sider the situation.

Diplomats speculated the 80nation world parliament would be summoned Thursday to prevent the situation from deteriorating any further. The Cairo press called on the United Nations to fix a time limit on the Israeli withdrawal under the threat of economic and

military sanctions.

TODAY S BIBLE THOUGHT I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the father but by Me. John 14:6. ! —In ancient days men developed ! the idea of Pillar Saints. They would sit on top of pillars and expect admirers to feed them. They endured the heat of mid-day and the cold of winter and of night. Man’s efforts to approach the infinite have been childish in the extreme. Christ did indeed show us how to find the way of truth and life.
