The important point is to begin by knocking out the sure entry of the dangerous opponent. When you must give up the lead more than once, give it up early to the opponent who has a long

Mr. Bull refused the first spade trick, properly enough, and won the ,«econd trick. He went after the Inog suit by finessing the jack of clubs around to the king. A spade came back, and Mr. Bull had to play the see. Now Mr. Bull took the rest of the clubs. He could count on making four clubs, two spades, and two diamonds, for a total of 8 tricks. When he led a heart, in the attempt to develop a ninth trick, West took the ace of hearts and set the contract with the rest cf the spades. MUST CO AFTER HEARTS The way to make this hand is to go after the hearts instead of the long clubs. After winning the second trick with the king of spades. South must lead s heart. If West takes the ace of hearts and return a spade to the ace, South.can then take the club finesse in safety. East will get the king of clubs, of course, but he will then be out of spades. (If Ea’st still had a spade, the suit would break evenly attd wouic !
