Albert Grimes, R. R. 2., Greencastle, is seriously ill at his home. The January meeting of the Busy Bee Club has been postponed. The meeting of the Maple Heights Home Demonstrtaion Club has been postponed until Jan. 8. Mr. and Mrs. James Goodin were guests Xmas day of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Goodman and family of Lafayette. Rev. George Forman left Wednesday for Phoenix, Arizona after visiting his cousin, Mrs. George Knauer and family. Mr Forman’s home is in Lakepoit, Calif. Miss Mary Jane Nichols of Fillmore left Indianapolis Monday afternoon on Eastern Air Line to St. Petersburg to spend Christmas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil L. Nichols at Indian Rock, Fla. John Overmyer, of South Bend, w r as taken to the state prison at Michigan City to day by Sheriff Joe Rollings. Overmyer will serve a term of one-to-five years for escaping from the penal farm. Charles Miles of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bryant and children, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Freeland of Plainfield and children and Miss Priscilla: Miles of Indianapolis spent the Christmas holiday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Miles. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Abrams are making their home in Columbus, Ohio, where Mr. Abrams is studying and teaching at Ohio State University. They spent Christmas with Mr. Abrams’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marshall D. Abrams, in their new home at 5161 Washington Blvd. in Indianapolis. The Abrams are former residents of Greencastle.
Mt. Meridian W. S. C. S. Held Christmas Meeting The Mt. Meridian WSCS held its Christmas meeting in the church basement. After a delicious pitch-in dinner the business meeting was opened by the president. The old and new business was discussed after which the meeting was closed by club prayer. Social hour was enjoyed by all with exchange of gifts and an auction sale. The next meeting will be held on January 9, 1957 with pitch-in dinner in the church basement.

SNOW IN STATE At least four inches of snow piled up over parts of Indiana today and forecasters said the depth may reach a half foot before the day is over. In an hour’s time alone, three inches of new snow was added to areas sound South Bend and Goshen. Snow was four inches deep at Fort Wayne, and the Weather Bureau said the entire northern third of Indiana would be covered with three to six inches.

Jefferson Twp. Club Enjoyed Annual Dinner The Jefferson Township Home Demonstration Club met for their annual Christmas pitch-in dinner Saturday evening, Dec. 22 at the school building. Prayer by Forest Hurst preceded the dinner. Dinner was served on a beautiful decorated table. Twenty-two members and their husbands and twenty-three children and six guests, Mr. and Mrs. Forest Hurst and little Dotty Knoy; Mr. and Mrs. Keith McCammack and son Michael, were present. After all enjoyed a lovely dinner they gathered for a short Christmas program the group sang “Silent Night and several of the children gave recitations and musical numbers. Roll call was revealing of secret sisters, each one receiving a beautiful gift. A grab bag was enjoyed by all. We j were very sorry to have two of | our members, Mrs. Pearle Hurst and Mrs. Dorcella Keck in the j hospital. All departed wishing each oth- | er a Merry Christmas. MAN’S BODY FOUND JASPER, Ind. (UP) — The body of William Buchlein, 72. Jasper, missing since Dec. 2, w r as recovered from the Patoka River near here Thursday. Authorities said John Young, the victim’s son-in-law’, found the body. Buechlein disappeared under mysterious circumstances. He was last seen by a taxi driver. An investigation, including cause of death, was still in progress. Authorities said Buechlein apparently did not meet foul play.

feld Follies beauty in an apartment wtiere she had been drinking with a retired detective. The body of Vera King Kramer, 52, was found Thursday by her drinking companion, Bradley Hammond, 58. She was in her bed. w T eaing pink and blue pajamas. Her right eye was blackened and her right cheek bruised. Hammond told authorities he and Mrs. Kramer, former wife of hotelman Milton J. Kramer, drank excessively in her lavish splitlevel apartment on West End Avenue. He said Mrs. Kramer fell down two stairs into the siunken living room and that he carried her to the bed. Then he said he returned to the living room and watched television until he fell asleep. After awakening about 2 p. m. he said he took Mrs. Kramer’s dog for a walk, returning about an hour later when he found Mrs. Kramer still in bed. He called a doctor and police but Mr. Kramer was dead when the physician arrived.
