Xnwu Party Brtd By Roarhdale Club The Federated Country Reading Club of Roachdale R. 2, held its annual Xmas party at the county home on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 15. The president. Mrs. O. G. Van Cleave gave a message of greeting and wished all the residents of the home a very Merry Xmas and a wonderful 1957. The group sang "Silver Bella.” Miss Darlene Jeffries and Miss Mary Jayne McGuire sang “Winter Wonderland” with Miss Jeffries accompanying on the aocordian. Mrs. Arthella Higgins read an article entitled “The Hope of the World” reminding us of the deep spiritual significance of this day when we celebrate the birth of our Saviour, God's son bom a man for the redemption c r all mankind. Miss Jeffries s»ng “White Christmas” playing her accompaniment on the accordian. The gifts from the club members to the residents of the hom ' were distributed from under the Xmas tree, each gift accompanied by a treat of candy, nuts and fruit. Epsilon Sigma Alpha Met December 18th The annual Xmas party of the Epsilon Psi Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha was held at the home of Billie Harmon, Tuesday evening, Dec. ISth. Everyone enjoyed comical readings given by our guest, Mrs. Reed. The Xmas story was read by Doris McMillan. Gifts were exchanged and very nice refreshments were served by the hostess. Those present were Joan Ash, Jane Carpenter, Norma Childs, Norma Ganger, Biilie Harmon, Pat Haltom, Joyce Jones, Lucille J mes, Margaret Lancaster, Doris McMillan, Barbara Powell and Iteita Wood.

Women’s Democrat Club Holds Meeting The Putnam County Women’s Democrat Club held their regular meeting at the Boots ’N Saddle on December 5. Mrs. Dorothy Elmore of Crawfordsville, w'as the guest speaker. Entertainment was by the Senior Sextet, Marge Mahoney, Dixie Goldsberry, Winnie Jo Tennis Maxine Herriot, Janet Donelson and Carolyn Flint. The sextet sang a group of Christmas carols accompanied by Mrs. Mary Clark. Delicious refreshments were served.

DAR Holds Meeting In Union Building Washburn Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met Tuesday evening at the Union Building. A sextette of high school girls opened the meeting with Christmas songs. During the meeting the chairman of the DAR supported Mountain Schools reported some $40 worth of clothing, cash and gifts had been sent by Washburn Chapter to youngsters at Hindman and Tomassee schools in the Southern Mountains, which will help make 450 children happy this Christmas. A plea was made for more Red Cross money to be sent to the suffering abroad in the war torn countries. The Christmas Cheer committee urged the attendance Saturday morning at ten o’clock of the matinee at the Voncastle. A can of food or vegetables is the only admittance. This will help fill Christmas Baskets for the needy. There will also be a matinee Friday at 10 for the same purpose. At the close of the meeting the
