Gray. Mr. nd Mrs. Frank Miller spent the day of October 24th with Mr. and Mrs. Sam Nelson of CrawfordsviUe, it being the 56th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. Yeager and family of West Virginia visited over the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Warren Caywood and family. Mrs. George Green and children returned home last week after an extended visit with her parents in New Jersey. WSCS of the Methodist Church
held their regular November meeting Thursday afternoon at rhe home of Mrs. Dolby Ceilings. Mrs. Cora Harris left Wednesday for Lafayette where she will spend the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Fitzsimmons of near Logansport spent the day Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Gene Quinnette and family. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Michael and Mrs. Vesta Mitchell attended a birthday dinner Sunday honoring Mrs. Myrtle Kirby of Hidalgo, Illinois. Willis Dickson attended the funeral of a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Sweet of Shannondale, Saturday. Mr- and Mrs. Ray Graham and Delbert, Mr. and Mrs. James Skelton and family visited over the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Peterson of DeKalb, Illinois. Mrs. Cevilla Harmless and daughter spent the day Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Harmless'and family of Winchester. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Gooch and Mr. and Mrs. Andy Gooch visited with Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Pound and family of Fairbanks over the past week end. All offices in the court house will be closed Monday, November 12th. Mrs. Laura Denny of Bloomington and Alva Danny of Sioux Falls, Iowa were guests of Mrs. Nellie Denny last week end. Mrs. Mary Shumaker and Mrs. Barbara Sullivan from Huntsville, Alabama called on Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Salsman and family Wednesday evening. Claude Porter, 20, Greencastle, was arrested by city police on a speeding charge. Porter w'as nabbed at the intersection of Bloomington and Washington streets. The County Home Demonstration Chorus will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 13th, at 7:30 p. m. at the First Christian church. As a program will be given on Nov. 27th, a full attendance is urged.

Pospect, EL, on October 20. The young married couple is re siding in San Francisco and Ens. Ragland has reported for duty aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Wasp. Mrs. Chastain Hostess To Roachdale Group The Women’s Fellowship, Group Tw r o, of the Roachdale Christian church met Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Bernice Chastain with twenty two members and two gr.ests present. The president, Mrs. Edna Young, was in charge of the meeting. Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved and treasurer’s report given. Presents for the mental patients were discussed and also a Christmas present for our own mental patient. Devotions were given by Mrs. Albert McFerran followed by a panel discussion on “Our Community, its needs, and how we can best help through our church.” Mrs. McFerran acted as moderator and the panel consisted of Mrs. Leonard Hays, Mrs. Elsie Thompson and Mrs. Hazel Rice. Mrs. Chastain served delicious refreshments assisted by Mrs. Vesta Barnes and Mrs. Hazel Rice. Boston Club Will Meet Monday evening The Boston Club will meet with Mrs. A. L. Meredith Monday evening at 7:30. Miss Sachiko Mori will give the program.

Greencastle and Fillmore youngsters split a double header basketball program last night. The local 8th grade team defeated the Fillmore 8th graders, 42 to 16. trut the Greencastle freshmen were nosed out by the Fillmore frosh, 33 to 32. Akers and Crawley were outstanding for the winning 8th i grade squad. Patterson and Tipton were high scorers for the losing freshmen outfit.

RUSSIA IS EXPECTED TO REJECT U. N. PLAN UNITED NATIONS, N. Y. (UP)—Diplomatic sources predicted today Soviet Russia would reject any United Nations effort to lift the reimposed Iron Curtain on famine-stricken Hungary. , The sources said the Russians might even block emergency food and medical supplies for the shattered nation. The United States asked the U. N. General Assembly today to demand Russia and its puppet Hungarian regime permit the w'orld to send in desperately needed food, medicine and clothing to the suffering people. Diplomats had almost 18 hours to consider the U. S. draft resolution carefully before it was submitted to the assembly formally after its emergency session opened this morning.
Ind. State To Battle Tigers In DePauw’s final home game of the season here tomorrow' afternoon, the local Tigers will meet an Indiana Collegiate Conference opponent, Indiana State. Neither ‘outfit has won r league game this year, and the Dad's Day battle at 1:30 in Blackstock Stadium will determine both the sixth-place finisher and the cellar dweller. Coach Bob Hicks will stick rather closely to the line-up which opened against Butler two weeks ago, although tw r o replacements are possible. Halfback Tom Campbell and tackle Ron Galiene are recovering from injuries, and starting in their places may be Dene Knight and Don Dixon. Other starters will include ends Pat Ewing and Jack Johnson, tackle Dwnght Tallman, guards Dick Vartanian and Ron Turner, quarterback Morrie Goodnight, halfback Dick Hackenberg, and fullback Skip Mathieson.

Keck, whose wife, Carol, lives on Route 1, Roachdale, Ind., recently arrived in Alaska and is now assigned at the Port of Whittier Keck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Estel Keck, Roachdale, was last stationed at' Fort Ord, Calif. A former employe of the Allison Division of General Motors in Indianapolis, he entered the Army last May and completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. J-

GOPPINGEN. Germany (AHTNC)—Pfc. Melvin E. Ford, 23, whose wife, Esther, and parents, Mr. and Mis. Jesse C. Ford, live in Roachdale, Ind., is a member of the 25th Transportation Battalion in Germany. A mechanic in the battalion’s 16th Company, Ford entered the army in October, 1955. He completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and arrived in Europe last April. Ford is a 1951 graduate of Roachdale High School. He was a farmer before entering the army.
