INDIANAPOLIS. UP Robert H Wyatt, executive secretary of the State Teachers Assn., told group’s annual convention here Thursday that Indiana school enrollment will rise from the present 835.000 to 1.000 000 by 1960. In his speech, Wyatt said the state should split educational costs 50-50 with local communities. He said it is impossible for the communities to provide adequate schooling because of soaring costs. O. M. Swihart, superintendent of Kokomo city schools, was elected president of the association Thursday. Mrs. Mary J. Beaman. Marion County, was elected vice president. The ISTA assembly resolved to

ask the State Legislature for teacher salary raises. The present minimum is S2.727. The teachers wanted the starting salary raised to between $3,600 to $4 500. The teachers also renewed their demand for removal of the state school superintendent from politics.
