Mrs. Edna Hayes Taylor Honored by Delta Kappa Gamma Special recognition was pa.d to Mrs. Edna Hayes Taylor, retired Shapespearean professor of I^ePauw University, at the Delta Kappa Gamma meeting Saturday evening, October 6, for her part in the National Founders’ Day program during the national convention of the society held in New Orleans in August. Mrs. Taylor is the author of a beautiful tribute to the society’s founders, a Shakespearean paraphrase, which was used at national convention during the ceremony in honor of the founders of the organization. The Shakespearean paraphrase has been used by the local chapter for the last few years, but now the tribute is available nationally in a newly printed book of ceremonies. Mrs. Taylor has received by letter the personal thanks of one of the society’s founders, Mrs. Lalla M. Odom. After a delicious buffet supper at the home of Mrs. Grafton LongJen, Miss Audrey Beatty, chapter president, presided at the first business meeting of the year. Reports of various committees w'ere heard, and the budget for the year was read ana approved. Mrs. Cyrus Dryden, program chairman, announced that the year’s program theme is to br "Uniting Women in Education through the Spiritual Fellowship.” This theme seems particularly appropriate since this is the first year Delta Kappa Gamma has become international. At present there are 54 state and provincial units with a 55th in the process of organization. These include chapters in the United States. Canada, Alaska and Hawaii with chapters nowbeing formed in various foreign countries. Reports from the national con-

IN MEMORY In loving memory of our dear husband and father, Charles E. Black, who passed away October 8, 1942. I never knew so many tears Could well in human's eyes To dim the glory of the sun— The gold of Autumn skies. I never knew a soul could writhe In depths of such despair, To learn a house was not a home, Without the loved one there. Nor did I know that hearts could ache With such a bitter pain. With longing for a vanished face. To hear a voice again. I never knew that nights could be So lonely, cold and dim. But, oh we’ve learned so man;’ things, Because of losing him. Sadly missed by wife and children.
